Question about Creative Labs ZEN Vision:M Digital Media Player

Certain MP3s and videos cut off before the end of file

I have two collections of TV episodes on my Zen, and several MP3's. On one of the TV series, most of the episodes cut off about 10-20 seconds before the ending. Sometimes I can view more if I restart the file, and fast forward to near the end, but not always. The audio and video are usually in-sync. The files don't cut off when viewed on my PC. I've also had a few (about 1%) of my MP3's cut off in the middle of the file, I'm not sure if it's related, but it's particularly aggrivating. Anyone know what the problem is?

Thats a tough one, but hopefully its just an issue of reloading or upgrading the firmware. What version do you currently have? I'll bet its not 1.62.02. I recommend you update the firmware to 1.62.02. Go to to download the firmware, then plug in your device to upload it to your Zen.

Check the specification of your MP3 player to determine thetype of video file format it uses. Most common video files that MP3 players use are, AVI andWMV, there may be others such as FLV, MOV and DivX. If your player cannot play a video then it is anincompatible video file format, then you need to convert that video file to aformat that your MP3 player uses. What is podcast

A podcast (or netcast) is a series of digital media files (either audio or video) that are released episodically and often downloaded through web syndication.
The mode of delivery differentiates podcasting from other means of accessing media files over the Internet, such as direct download, or streamed webcasting. A list of all the audio or video files currently associated with a given series is maintained centrally on the distributor's server as a web feed, and the listener or viewer employs special client application software known as a podcatcher that can access this web feed, check it for updates, and download any new files in the series. This process can be automated so that new files are downloaded automatically. Files are stored locally on the user's computer or other device ready for offline use, giving simple and convenient access to episodic content. Commonly used audio file formats are Ogg Vorbis and MP3.
Academics at the Community, Journalism & Communication Research group at the University of Texas at Austin in the USA are proposing a four-part definition of a podcast: A podcast is a digital audio or video file that is episodic; downloadable; programme-driven, mainly with a host and/or theme; and convenient, usually via an automated feed with computer software.

My zen mozaic won't support any video files i put on it. what files does it take?

well, creative zen likes avi, mpg and wmv formats

the reason that your creative zen won't read the avi is because the necessary codec is missed.

you can use iorgsoft creative zen video converter to convert the video to mp4,wmv then put them to creative zen.

if you want to put DVD onto creative Zen, fine, you can use iOrgsoft DVD to Creative Zen converter to remove the DRM(Digital Right Management) and regional restriaction from DVD, and you can also use it to convert DVD to avi, wmv or mpg for playback on creative zen.

Problem transferring MP3s to Zen Vision 30GB

I have a Zen Vision M 30G, and this is what worked for me.(Widows XP home Edition. First you're going to want to transfer all your files back to your PC to back them up. I've found that even though you can't transfer from your PC to Zen, you can transfer from Zen to PC. Connect your player, and after your Pc recognizes it go to My Computer>click on your player, it should show up as "storage media.">then you right click on it, then select "reformat." A warning should pop notifing that you will lose all you data. Click yes, It should take less than a minute to complete. So essentially you have just wiped your Mp3 player's hard drive clean. Now transfer all your backed up files back to your player.

Won't format and won't play mp3

try loading files on different bit rates and see what bitrate your player can play. some player wont play files that are directly copied to the player, it needs a certain software to encode it to its standard format. sony walkman is an example, it has its own software to encode files from mp3 to its own supported format.
