Question about Sanyo DP26746 26 in. LCD Television

Tv not working

It is a blue screen and it says, no input signal source could be located.please check cable or antenna connection then press the channel up key. cable and antenna or ok it is like the tv is locked in the channel search mode.

Can you confirm that you didn't have any input signal? My wife once accidentally pressed the reset button on the remote and the TV was stuck in this state. I tried to hook up an antenna to the digital antenna input and let the TV search for a channel. It did find a station and got out of the channel search mode, which was all I needed. Then, I unhook the antenna and continued to enjoy my DVD movie. I didn't check the manual. So, it's possible that there is a better solution. My TV was working fine and I think it just has a terrible user interface. I'm not sure about your TV's condition, though.

Televison station won't scan

If you are receiving a "No Signal" error message, verify that:
  1. All of the cables physically connected to the TV and the input device are secure.
  2. The input device is turned on.
Your TV needs to scan for channels before it can show programming from an antenna, from cable TV when the cable comes directly from the wall (no cable box), or from a cable or satellite box connected to the TV with a coaxial (RF) cable. Do not scan for channels if you have a cable or satellite box connected using AV (Composite), Component, or HDMI cables. The box selects the channel, not the tuner inside your television. If you are not using the "TV" input, press the INPUT button on your remote until the correct input mode is selected.
To perform a channel scan using the coaxial input:
  1. Press the INPUT button on your remote to view your current input source. The TV (coaxial cable) input must be selected. This may appear as "TV," "ANT," or the channel and call letters of a station.
  2. If the TV input is not selected, press INPUT until the TV input mode is selected.
  3. Open the on-screen menu and select TV or Tuner option. (This varies by model.)
  4. Highlight Tuner Mode and select the correct option:
    • Antenna-over-the air signals from an antenna
    • Cable-direct from the wall cable TV, or a cable or satellite box connected to the TV with coaxial cable
  5. Select Auto Search or Auto Channel Scan. (This varies by model.)
  6. When the search reaches 100% complete, exit to the menu.
  7. Check the available channels:
    • Antenna or direct-from-wall cable-Press the Channel Up and Channel Down buttons on your VIZIO TV remote to view the available channels.
    • Cable or satellite box- Will return only one channel. Use the cable or satellite remote's Channel Up and Channel Down buttons.
If this does not resolve the issue, power cycle the TV and then re-run the channel scan:
  1. Turn off the TV.
  2. Unplug the TV from the electrical outlet.
  3. While the TV is unplugged from the wall, press and hold the Power button on the TV for 30 seconds.
  4. Release the power button.
  5. Plug the TV back into the electrical outlet.
  6. Turn on the TV.
Note: There is also an option to reset the TV to the factory default settings. This option is in either the SETUP or SYSTEM section of the on-screen menu. The option may be "Reset all settings", "System Reset," or "Reset & Admin." Consult your TV's user manual for the location and steps for resetting your model.
  1. Remove the coaxial cable from the DTV/TV connector on the back of your television and perform a channel scan to clear the existing channels. See the procedure above. This should not find any channels.
  2. Re-attach the coaxial cable to the DTV/TV connector and perform a new channel scan.

This definitely means that you have no signal input to the TV. Check the signal input and switch to the source input that you provide, like cable or antenna.

Refer to the manual (free download here). Generally, a blue screen indicates a very low or non-existent signal. This can happen when the antenna is unable to gather enough of a signal from a particular broadcaster, or if an A/V input is selected, but the A/V device is not on or providing a signal. Since you are not seeing channel information when tuning, I suspect that the television is set to display an A/V input instead of the internal tuner.

With a working remote, locate the TV/AV button on the lower left (manual page 3 - item 8). When this button is pressed, you can choose to display signals on the ANT, VIDEO1, VIDEO2 or COMPONENT jacks. The ANT selection chooses the input on the RF jack such as an antenna or cable TV (with or without converter box). If using a cable box, the TV tuner should be set to Ch3 or Ch4 as determined by your cable box. Otherwise, select the VIDEO1, VIDEO2 or COMPONENT input that has the source signals you wish to watch from a cable box, DVD player, etc. that is connected to the rear input jacks. Page 7 of the manual details the connection and remote operation.

I just got a new 26" Westinghouse TV, and the screen says "No Channels in List" and when I search for channels, it is not finding any.

What type of antenna are you using? Or what is your source for accessing channels? (i.e. - are you connecting to a cable tv service box or are you using a receiver ect.) Make sure that your source is connected to the input method that you are currently using on the tv.

There are many input methods to choose from in the settings of the tv. They are generally called antenna 1, antenna 2, cable, aux, hdmi - and a few other names. There should be a button on your remote to change them. The function is usually called "source" or "input". Press that button to change the input method until you get a picture on the tv or pick up some sort of reception. when you have the tv set on the same method of input that your antenna source is connected to, you will get channel reception or some sort of picture. Thats when you use the menu functions to auto find channels for you and let it go through its checking scan to report how many it has picked up.

If its running the scan for channels and not locating any stations, and the picture is either scrambled with the white noise sound tv's make when off channel or if its just single color screen without any sound - then you know the antenna input method you have chosen on the back of the tv is not the current method set in the settings under the menu key.

Most of the time the inputs are labeled on the back. If you look under the cable antenna connection, it should say "cable" somewhere in small print - or "antenna 1 input", antenna 2 ect. Look on the back of the tv. If you are using RCA jacks that are labeled right and left for sound and a third connector for video ect, look for the name of the input method of those three connections on the back of the tv. It should be marked as input - aux 1 ect. Then just change the source chosen in the tv to match it and have it auto program your channels.

OK, I have one of these TVs, and here's a thought: There's nothing wrong with the TV nor with the cable converter box. Please bear with me. Since I don't know how much you may know about TVs in general and this one in particular, I'm going to assume you know nothing and go from there.

This TV has several different "inputs", which are ways a signal can be transferred from its source to the TV, where it "outputs" the video image. I believe this particular TV has 5 different inputs: In descending order of the quality of the video signal, there're one S-video input (a 4-pin video connector plus red & white audio), three composite video inputs (3 connectors each: yellow video and red/white audio--audio connectors are the same for both s-video and composite), and one coax connector (a single large screw-on connector with a little wire sticking up through the center of it) for a total of five different inputs.

The problem with these Apex TVs is that they always default to the Antenna/coax input first when they are restarted. Most people use the TV to display an input signal (like the cable box or a DVD player) connected either to the S-video or to one of the 3 composite video inputs, not to the coax input, which just displays the channel numbers from 1-125 when it's set to do that (hit the "display" button on your remote to toggle showing the channel numbers for the coax input). If there's no signal coming into the coax input, the screen with appear blue. (If it's blue, it simply means it's not getting a signal via the input to which the TV is currently set. You can turn off the blue screen in the menu settings, but then you'll just get a blank screen. It's probably better just to leave the screen blue; at least you can tell the TV's actually trying to display something that way.)

You have to manually select the proper input by pressing the "video" button either on the remote (lower right corner) or the "video" button directly on the TV (hidden control panel under the middle of the margin around the bottom of the TV screen. You'll have to press on the door, and the whole control panel rolls open to reveal another set of composite inputs and some buttons. The video button is the one farthest to the left.)

Anyhow, by pressing the video buttons, you'll cycle through the various inputs. Assuming your cable converter box is functioning properly, powered on, receiving a signal from the cable company, and connected to the TV via a(n) appropriate wire(s) connected correctly, you should see the output from the cable box on the screen when you cycle through to display the proper video input.

Another possibility: the power outage fried the input to which your cable box was connected on the back of the TV. If that's the case, your cable box would probably also have sustained damage. You can check to see if the various video inputs on the TV are working by connecting different source inputs (like a BluRay/DVD/VCR player, video game console, video camera, etc.) to one of the other inputs and see if you get a picture when the TV is set to the appropriate inputs. (Remember, the "video" button is what selects/changes/cycles through the various video inputs.) One of the sets of inputs went bad on my TV. I just use the other ones.

I clicked a button by accident last night and now my Vizio tv reads no signal and a small display in the top right corner reads AV. How can I get my tv to read cable signals again??

What input is the cable connected to? (Coax antenna In, component video, composite video)

Look on the remote or the TV itself for a button marked Source or Input. Press this. For some TVs, use the up/down arrows to select the input to which your cable is connected. (TV = coax) On other models, you may need to press the Source button several times to advance between inputs. (I'm assuming you have a remote that works for this feature on the TV; otherwise, use the TV button.)

Occationally I get a blue screen when viewing, this onlt lasts seconds

The blue screen appears when the signal is missing - check your connections to the antenna or the cable.

OK A Blue screen, indicate that there is, or the TV "Thinks" there is NO SIGNAL. Please Check your Antenna Connection. Unplug the TV, for 5 mins or so. You MUST prove either the TV or it's "Signal Source" the Antenna. Try the antenna on another TV, if possible, try another antenna,on the TV, Try feeding in a signal via the EXTERNAL inputs. IF ALL Inputs are proved OK, and the TV, still will NOT display any signal, then it would appear that you may have a "Tuner" fault, or some other underlying condition, that affects the reception. In my professional opinion, in that case is to get the unit looked at by a Toshiba, recommended service center, VERY IMPORTANT to do that. Ask for a "Quote" from that service center, and go from there.

I have a 19" phillips lcd tv and when i turn the tv on the phillips screen comes up but when it is going the show the channel it shut off by itself how can i fix this problem?

Hello. I may be able to assist you. If you are using a direct cable connection from the wall outlet;
  • Check the incoming cable or antenna signal connection to ensure that it is properly secured to the TV's antenna input.
  • If the connection is good, perform the automatic installation again to search for all available channels.
If you are using a coaxial connection from the Cable or Satellite box to the TV;
  • Set the TV to the channel specified by the service provider.
  • Change the channels at the Cable or Satellite box to view the program.
If you are using a video connection (CVBS, S-Video, YPbPr, HDMI) from the source (DVD, Cable or Satellite box) to the TV;
  • You do not need to perform automatic installation to search for the channels.
  • Press the 'SOURCE' 071218044349_22024.gif button on the remote control repeatedly to select the correct input source.
If you are using an HDMI connection from the source (DVD, Cable or Satellite box) to the TV;
  1. Reset the TV and source by unplugging it from the power outlet for 30 seconds.
  2. Turn on the TV and press the play button on your source device. If the source is HDMI CEC compliant, the TV will automatically switch to the HDMI input.
  3. If your source is not HDMI CEC compliant, turn on the TV and switch to the HDMI input.
  4. Turn on your source.
If you are sure you have selected the correct input or channel but still have no picture or sound;
  • Try resetting the TV by unplugging it from the power outlet for 30 seconds.
  • Press the 'SOURCE' 071218044349_22024.gif button to select the correct input source.
  • Check the connection cables.
  • Try the connected source with another TV.
  • Connect a different source on the same connection of your TV.
