Question about Sewing Machines

My Singer Stylist model 7258 is giving me the E5 error message. This is the first time I have used it. When I press the foot pedal or even when pressing the start stop button it makes a horrid grinding sound and stops before one whole revolution of the needle is made.

With the grinding sound that you describe, I'd guess that a bearing has failed somewhere in the machine. Some other parts could have been bent and thus rubbing. The electronic controls probably stop the machine due to the excessive current being used to push the mechanism. Here's a parts breakdown for the Stylist 7258: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/model-number/7258/1232/1220000.html . You may want to contact a repair professional to deal with the problem.

The E5 error can also indicate that the foot control plug isn't completely plugged in. You should hear two clicks as you push the pin into the receptacle. However, this isn't likely in this case.

I hope this helps.

SOURCE: My new Singer Stylist 7258 keeps getting a message

I looked in my manual, it says that C4 means that the thread is tangled or there bobbin was interrupted forcibly. Turn off and totally rethread your machine with presser foot up, insert a new needle and try again. Do this test, with the presser foot up, pull top thread, it should move easily, now lower presser foot, pull thread, it should barely move. This should seat the thread in the tension discs properly. I have this same machine, and love it.

How to change needle position (left, right, center)

Which stitch are you using? As far as I can tell, the Stylist 7258 only allows you to change the needle position for straight stitches. If the machine is set to Pattern 00, press the right or left buttons from the 4 arrow keys in the manual setting arrows until the needle is in the desired position.

For all other stitches, the left/right arrows adjust the stitch width. This is described on page 30 (in English) of the manual. You can download the manual from the product page under the support tab: http://www.singerco.com/products/2101/7258-stylist#type-support . The direct link to the manual is http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/4951b452e963a8fe1dd1fd83fbac68a35df8cf19.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Can Singer 7258 Stylist be used in a Country like India with 220 - 240 voltage? Is there any UK model for the same?

the machine comes in two versions european {220-240v}
or american {110v}

you need to use a transformer to give 110-240v
the current this machine uses is less than 3amps
so a 3amp 110-240v converter is easily found on ebay for $10

I have E7 and machine won't work????

E7 sounds like an error code. First step is to look it up in your owner's manual.
