Question about Toshiba 56HM195 56" Projection HDTV

Open Question

Light engine adjustment?

I have a 56HM195 DLP TV. Recently, the projected image on the screen is slanted upward, and smaller print is less sharp that usual. Is there any way to adjust this? Is this the light engine or the mirror? I have run diagnostics, and everything seems to be working normally.

you should make sure that the onscreen menus are effected by the problem if they look OK and just the video bihind them is distorted the problem is in the digital video or what Toshiba calls the seine module. Probably not though it sounds like an engine. PTS electronics rebuilds some engines however most Toshiba engines are relatively reasonable.

SOURCE: 56HM195 Light Engine Troubleshooting

Most light engines have a internal screen generator that bypasses any video processing circuits to troubleshoot just such an issue. See if you can locate a service manual for this model and initiate such a test. If I can locate a manual I'll post the instructions.

SOURCE: I need to clean mirror

Most rear projection sets the screen will pop off the front. Usually a couple of hidden catches. Get another person for this.
Once off you can clean the mirror but not the inside of the screen.
Unplug tv first

Toshiba 56hm ic repair

The model listed here 56hm195 is a dlp and has no ic's for this issue.

Double check the model number on the rear of the set and let me know--if convergence the set will have a way in the menu to attempt to adjust--if it has that the model indicated is wrong.

Why the white spots on my tv screen. started with one, then two and now up to 9

the reason this is happening and the problem is getting worst is because the DMD board is starting to go bad some of the micro mirrors are getting stuck on the on or off position and the problem is only going to get worst if you want to fix this problem you need to replace the light engine here is a link that will teach you about this projection works

It sounds like your light engine needs replaced, should be around $400.-600. depending on who does it. I have seen the lamp cause similar symptoms but not that likely.

Toshiba 56HM195 56 in HD DLP Loud Buzzing and color distortion

If the sound, sounds more like a Hum with some vibration chances are the Cooling fan located behind the lamp is going bad, about $20 to repair, if its a high pitch hum most likely the Color Wheel and if thats the case about $30.
Good luck, my fan just went bad now seeing green dots everywhere, so debating on just junking it out or fixing it, with winter coming on might just breakdown and buy LCD and say the heck with DLP from now on.
Good luck to you..
