Janome Embroidery Machine Not Picking Up Bobbin Thread

MB4 always picks up the bobbin when starting a design with a thread that is held in the front coils. After auto thread cutting the thread is held behind the needles, when the machine tries to pick up the bobbin thread with the machine cut thread it often (more than 70% of the time) fails to catch. If you then trim the end with scissors and place back in the front coils it catches and sews fine until the next machine trim. Using Gunold top and bobbin thread, on thin cotton items mainly with medium thickness tearaway. The problem lessens slightly when embroidering thicker materials

The tension will not stay set . It sews great and then suddenly starts looping!! Like carpet!!and no bobbin shows through on back side at all help!!!

Ewww! Wondering if the tension mechanism has gone haywire.

First, change the needle. (Is the thread still in the correct path or has it "jumped" out of place? If so, try slowing down the machine.) Remove the thread. RAISE the presser foot to insure the thread seats properly in the tension disk and rethread from the beginning. Check that the bobbin is threaded properly. Check the tension setting and retest.

If it is still malfunctioning, it may need service.

The machine is locked up. I've tried checking for thread behind the bobbin case, but cannot get the bobbin case to move.

Check your owner's manual troubleshooting section.

Assuming the machine is jammed with thread:

Try removing all the thread, remove the needle, the presser foot and the needleplate (if it is removable). If there is a thread tangle in the bobbin area, try to snip the thread loops and gently pull with tweezers or needlenose pliers. The best thing would be to get the bobbin case out of the machine. Once the bobbin case is out, the thread should be pretty easy to remove.

How do I fix my MB4 that has locked after thread caught around bobbin. There must still be hidden thread, how can I fix please, regards Pam

IF THE GEARS ARE PLASTIC, THE LOCKING MAY HAVE CAUSED THE GEARS TO JUMP A TOOTH AND THREW THE TIMING OF THE MACHINE OFF. IT MAY NEED TO BE SERVICED.

Model PE-180 not picking up bobbin thread

Possible that the shuttle settings are not correct. remove the bobbin and thread it once again. reset it back on the catch and see if the thread is caught up. follow the directions once again and make sure the thread is freely moving within the bobbin.

Bobbing thread not picking

Hi,
Make sure you have threaded the bobbin thread correctly. Also your top thread must be correctly threaded in order to pick up the bobbin thread.
Please let me know if I can help any further.

Best wishes,

Picking up bobbin thread

First easy thing to check, are you using the correct length needle.
If this is not the problem then somehow the needle bar has moved and the the needle depth is to high or the timing is wrong..
Unless you really know what you are doing then I am afraid a sewing machine tech needs to reset the needle depth and subsequently the timing.

Machine embroidery

You should always use proper Bobbin Thread for embroidery - not a bobbin wound from regular dressmaking thread. You are right, the special bobbin thread is thinner so that the embroidery thread will be pulled to the underside and you get a nice shiny embroidery on top with no bobbin showing through. Wind yourself 6 or more bobbins at a time of bobbin thread to always have some on hand, or buy the pre-wound L size ones.
All embroidery machines - no matter what brand - recommend using bobbin thread for embroidery. It is readily available at all sewing stores, probably even Spotlight would carry some. If you get stuck for a supply, try overlocker thread.
