Sony dsc h1 digital camera

I have used my camera with excellent results the past 2 years. i just went to a wedding 2 days ago and the camera worked flawlessly. But, now today i turned it on with new batteries and all, all is does is boot up and then immediately turns itself off with no access to any type or working operations. Any clues or ideas as to what happened to my camera? thanks in advance.....

No, this isnt the answer. I tried new batteries,(several), including new rechargables that worked fine in another camera.

I had the exact same problem except I used mine to take a picture of my classroom. I then turned it off and went to use it again 5 minutes later with recharged batteries and NO LUCK. I can however view pictures on my memory stick but I cannot turn the camera on to take pictures. Whst can I do?

Hello all, I am the original poster of this message board. mailbox1024.
Anyway i luckily took out the extended warrantee of 4 years when i purchased my camera. Cost me abosolutely nothing, was shipped back to Sony and they replaced the motherboard in my camera from a newer model. I got it back in a few weeks and it works faster now than ever before.
I wish i had known about the quick fix by Pauldo, because i would have definetly like to have tried his solution before i shipped out my camera. Congrats to Pauldo on getting his camera to reboot back up.
Thanks for everyones help.......... Ron (mailbox1024)

Same problem - brand new batteries and when I push the on button, the camera turns on for a moment then zap it is off. Happened just out of

warranty. I will not buy another Sony product if I can't get this fixed.

the exact same thing happenned to me. I was taking some pictures with my Sony DSC-H1 and turned the camera off, went for lunch and when I got back from lunch and tried to take pictures. It would not work. However, I could view the pictures that I had taken earlier but only when I start the camera on the playback mode. If I tried to turn on the camera on any other mode (picture taking mode) it would not work and word "access" would display on the LCD screen and amber light for the flash would keep on flashing. I tried Pauldo's solution but in vain.

    Can anyone help me?

    Thank you.

I am facing the same problem Pauldo has mentioned. However Pauldo's solution didn't work. In my case, the lens makes a small creaking sound and then it shuts down.

Hello all! I am the one who took the pics of my class and then my wonderful camera stopped working. Before I sent $181 to Sony just to have them looka t the camera. The online helper suggested that I take the batteries out, press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds, let the camera sit for a few minutes without batteries, then place new "good" batteries in it. Well thats what I did and taadaa IT WORKED. I am so excited that I save $181 and my camera is working just as if it was brand new. I hope this solution helps someone!

I have a similar problem. Every time i turn it on the "low battery light flashes" it might take one picture than turns off. ON rare occasions i can take a few pictures, but as soon as i turn the flash on 'low battery flashes" and its dead. I've tried many new batteries, even bought the ni-Mh rechargable. Tried every different brand - its def not the batteries.

I find that if I hit the camera on the side where the batteries are, it turns on right away. Don't ask how I figured this out!!

I have the same problem above also - if I keep the lens cap on it stays on, but as soon as I want to take a photo it shuts itself off.

I have the same problem. I think it has something to do with the lense. Because if I leave the lense cap on it stays on. Tomorrow at work I am going to try and fix it, I need a microscope.

It could be the battery problem , you mention that turned it on with 'new batteries'.1) you need to ensure that the new battery is a good one.( not all the new battery are good ).use the volt meter to measure the voltage to confirm.2)ensure that the charging cable is ok. 3)try to use another battery to test the camera.hope it help

Recharge of flash

Sony H1 camera has a delay to recharge the flash and I hope that you know that as you are using it for the last three years. If the time delay is a new issue check the MAH of the battery to ensure that it will be above 2200 at least. If the MAH is below 2200 it is natural that the time delay will be more to recharge the flash. If my solution proves good please rate it. Regards.
