How can I speed up my computer?

How long ago was Windows installed? Over time, the system will get slower. This is not unusual. It may be time to backup all your data and re-install Windows as a fresh build. This will improve things significantly. Depending on what hardware specs you are running, this could be impacting performance as well. Vista was always heavy on resources.

USING VISTA HOME PREMIUM OPERATING SYSTEM ON MY PC.........I can never get the defragment to finish.even if I leave the computer on for hours.... the computer does not show status of the defragment... so I...

If the defrag is running slow and/or runs along time but does seem like finishing look at how much free space you have. If you have less than 15% free space this will not allow you to get a good defrag of the system. You might try moving some files to another drive while you do the defrag. Also try uninstalling some programs this can help too. Then after you get the system defraged then you can put the files back and reinstall your programs.

Low disc space

That means that your hard drive is full and it would be best if you transfer some or delete some files.

This article may help. Vista apparently likes to not add an upper limit to its System Restore function... but only sometimes.
