DRain cover won't fit

I have a Jones Stephens C60-83RB that I am trying to install into my shower drain--the receptor is too shallow to accept without the cover sticking above the drain--what solution to this is there--I am replacing a much thinner anodized drain cover which in fact does sit flush with the drain--what is the solution??

The easiest fix is to get a new version of the thinner drain cover. otherwise you will have to do some serious plumbing work to lower the entire drain assembly. If you want a new thinner drain cover take the old one to the nearest plumbing supply store and they will assist you.

Clogged shower drain

Shower drains are all designed to be opened and cleaned, usually hair builds up, if there is a visible screw remove it and lift the drain cover, if you can get fingers under the cover try lifting it off to clean it. If its stiff and its made of plastic do not use metal tools to lift it. Instead pass a trouser belt under both sides and use this to pull it up, then clean it.

My shower stall has a crack on the floor,i dont know if there is a apn underneathe to prevent rotting on wood

If your shower stall has a crack in the bottom, you may be able to see if it is getting the wood wet by looking under house. But even if it is not leaking there now, it will eventualy become a problem. I would suggest that you make some repairs or hire a proffessional soon. I hope this helps.

We installed the shower 7yrs ago when we remodeled and the base around the drain cracked. now we are trying to replace the shower and they standard distance from the wall to the drain on our old one does...

Much as I hate to say it, if you can't find a matching shower base, you will have to move the drain. If you have concrete this is quite a job. I would certainly make every effort to find a matching base. I don't know the details of your setup but I assume there is no extra room under the base to plumb into the drain. Hope this helps. Good luck!

I purchased a 1 1/2" bathtub drain Lift & Turn. I'm having difficulty removing the drain flange. Do I turn it counter clockwise or clockwise to remove. The cross at the bottom of the flange was broken...

You must turn it counter clockwise. If there isn't any of the cross left you have two options you can take a small hack saw and cut 3 or 4 slits in the drain lip, being careful not to scratch the tub. Then pry the lip up very carfully with a small flat screw driver & pliers. You should be able to unscrew it now.Or if you have access to the waste and overflow, behind the front of the tub you can remove the overflow, (its the piping with the cover plate at the top of the tub) and move the waste shoe from side to side,to loosen the drain up. [thats the part the drain screws into] I would try my 1st solution. You would most likely have to replace the waste & overflow and maybe the trap with the 2nd. Good Luck.

K-1357 kohler whirlpool tub there is leaking only when the tub is filled and drained. when taking showers there are no leaks. this unit has been recently installed within the last week

You say that it doesn't leak during showers. The next step is to plug the drain 100% so no water will drain thru the drain assembly. Fill the unit up to just below the overflow drain and leave overnight to see if it could be leaking from the outside of the drain plug assembly or leaking from the jets/drain from the whirlpool feature. If was just recently installed was it professionally installed. Should be covered by warranty.Try this then if its not determined what the cause we will go to the next level of investigating what it could it peak all around to see where the water is comming from. Use a flashlite so your not kneeling in mosture with a electrical light in your hand!!! Good Luck!

I have a large whirlpool tub in MB on 1st floor. When letting water out of tub it is coming up in a large walk-in shower. The shower is draining fine...need answer! thanks

sounds like there may be some blockage in pipes. try to run a long snake through both drains or run all fixtures in bathroom and try plunging vigorously in tub and shower while running water. if nothing still, it may be possible that your underground plumbing is back graded or incorrect fittings and plumbing installation.

SUPER clogged drains

About all you could do is rent an electric snake and clear the main drain. The shower drain line (if you follow it) may also have a port to use a snake.

Good luck!
