Question about Mitsubishi VS-6041 60" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Vs 6041 This just happend last night, the screen goes black, you can hear ok and just see an outline of the picture, like the picture is being blacked out. We dont have the user manual or the remote for this TV. Its hooked up to comcast and we thought maybe that was the problem, but works fine on another TV. When we push the Vol up or done the picture returns to normal for just a few seconds then black again, thanks for any help you can provide

Re: vs 6041

Hello bgill,

At first I thought this was a problem with the bulb, but as I read further into your description of the problem the more it sounded like a control processor issue. The fact that the TV acts normal when the volume control is pressed, indicates that the control processor might be going bad, or at least some of the processor biasing circuitry might be going bad. The circuitry in question is somehow linked to either the bulb control circuitry.

You will have to have a qualified TV technician look at this set to determine what the problem is

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

OK this is going to be either a tube problem or a convergence board problem, either way your going to have to get it serviced, unless your really electric savy and care to take it apart and solder pieces. There is no real fix to your problem without actually going "in"...

Mitshubishi VS-6041 No picture, sound ok

It has been my experience with that model mitsubishi that the usual culprit is loss of vertical sweep. If the beams in the picture tubes stops moving up and down this is detected by the micro processor and the video is blanked, but the set is not shut down. The usual cause of loss of vertical sweep is bad solder connections on the deflection yokes or a failed vertical output IC.

Mitsubishi VS-6041 60 in. doesn't power up

Hello Tremulant

This denotes a possible problem with the Low or high voltage power supplies. The clicking you here might be the shutdown circuit acting because of excessive draw of current. The problem will most likely be associated with the HV power supply, but you will have to have a qualified TV technician check your TV to make sure.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,
