Question about Toshiba TP50H60 50" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Static I have a TP50F61 Big Screen TV, A couple weeks ago I turned it on and it had static, but in a couple minutes it was fine. The more I use it now the longer it takes for the static to go away. It almost acts like someone is using a power tool and I am getting the inference from it, but this is more of a snapping and cracking noise and it will put lines across the screen at the same time. Help please!!

Re: static

This is probably high voltage arcing from your flyback transformer, distro xformer, or cables. They need to be checked and cleaned, then the source of the arc needs some hi - q dope applied. This is 30,000 volts we're talking about, so be aware you could kill yourself if you don't know what you're doing ! !

TV shuts itself off after a couple minutes of being on.

One must be very careful of the quality of the replacement lamp. Many of the cheap 'deals' on the web for replacement lamps are substandard. I always recommend that replacement bulbs be the original manufacturers bulb.
