Question about Sharp 27H-S200 TV

1 Answer

Sharp TV Can not turn TV on: We had a power black out, the power came back on in the middle of the night, and the TV was turned off at the unit (ie not with the remote). Since then we have not been able to turn the TV back on, the remote can't turn it on, and pressing the power on and off at the unit (and pressing the program button) won't turn it on. What can we do? Any suggestions gratefully received. Cheers, Andy.

Thank you Paul. I think I may have confused the issue. When the power came back on the TV was working (broadcasting static really loudly) and we couldn't find the remote, that's why it was turned off at the unit. We had been told that we may have trouble turning the TV back on if we turned it off at the unit.
    Cheers,
    Miff.

It could be a blown fuse, sometimes when power is restored a power spike occurs this can blow fuses in appliances. Check power to either side of main fuse. Then progressivly check all other minor fuses Cheers Paul

Some TV's have a protection circuit on them in case of power outage etc. This could have been activated, If so generally if you unplug the unit and wait 15 to 30 mins this circuit resets itself. If this does not happen then the circuit may be faulty causing no power to the unit

    hope that helps

    cheers paul

JVC 48" rear projection AV48WP30 is HAUNTED

Dear Losing Sleep, The symptoms you're describing sounds like a bad tac switch or two. You might notice a bit of a pattern also, consistent with temp changes. (ie: up in the early AM when house got cooler, and bingo set is on). It's not an expensive repair. Tac switches are an item under a buck a piece. However, this is NOT something you want to tackle yourself... This TV is actually built to self destruct if a less than educated tech opens the back. If you remove the rear cover while the power is on you will destroy all DVI programing inside the DVI (Digital Input Module). The only way to restore the programming is to send the unit to JVC. There is a light sensor inside the TV and when the back is removed with the power on the data is erased from the eprom. You might even take it an extra mile when calling around to find a shop to work on it by asking if they know the correct procedure for opening the back of your TV - - If they do know their answer will be something like this: First turn off set and remove power cord then short pins 1 and 2 on the SB connector of digital input module. Before replacing the rear panel remember to remove the short on the SB connector. Do not turn power on until the rear panel is inserted into the cabinet. If you have to work inside the set with power on remove the two cables going to the DVI module. When you find the right shop take the unit in yourself - you'll save a few bucks that way. Hope this helps. Bill
