Check your heating element and also the high pressure switch which is located on the metal part behind the panel on the back of the unit where the vent hose connects sounds like your unit is over heating

Sounds like a airflow problem. Either the House vent is clogged or some major build up in the blower or lint housing.

Remove the vent hose from the dryer and see how well it is blowing, then reconnect the vent and check outside, it should be close to the same.

House vent should be short and strait as possible, and metal venting only.

I have a gas dryer that when cycle begins it heats but after a while it stops heating and it takes too long for clothes to dry...Why is this happening?

I would check the the vent hose first. It might be clogged with lint or stopped up some other way or even crimped where the air won't flow. Turn on the dryer and go outside and be sure there is a good flow of air coming out of the vent. If there's not much air flow dis connect the hose and clean it out

Sometimes it will heat for a few minutes and then it won't heat up at all. Seems to be an intermittent problem

Remove the connecting exhaust vent for a test only.
Run a dryer cycle with the vent removed.
If it works, repair your vent blockage.
If the same occurs, check the blower wheel on the end of the motor to make sure it is not spinning loosely on the shaft.
Next observe the glowbar ignitor.
Is it coming on and cycling after every extenguish?
If it comes on and does not light, replace the gas valve coils.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

DRYER HEATS UP BUT DOES NOT DRY AFTER REPEATED CYCLES. KITCHENAID DRYER. WHAT SHOULD I LOOK FOR?

Look for plugged air passages, vent-to-outside hose and exit grill. Wash the lint filter in hot water and washer detergent to remove the fabric softener deposits that block air flow. Hope this helps!

Whirlpool gas dryer LGR6636PWO heats for appro. 5 minutes & quits heating but still runs.

First check the exhaust vent and connecting vent material for a clog. If vent is OK,replace the gas valve coils.

Blocked vent hose . Disconnect the hose from the dryer and dry a load . If dryes ok , check the vent hose and vent . Make sure there is good air blowing out the back .

I have whirlpool dryer that the heat seems to kick on and off it is gas dryer

If heats for a few minutes then cuts off (heat) , then the 2 coils on the burner valve are probably bad . OR check the vent hose to the outside for good air flow . Sometimes , a dryer is pushed too far back , and it kinks the vent hose . If coils are bad , when dryer cools down , then restarting , cool coils will heat again for a few minutes , then stop heating till they cool off again .

Gas Dryer not drying efficiently

Note: Normal drying time for a dryer is about 45 minutes (some may take up to an hour).

1. Venting
Make sure the dryer vent hose, as well as the rest of the vent duct, is not clogged.

Unless regular maintenance is performed, chances are there is a lot of lint accumulated inside the dryer. This might affect the drying time and could be a fire hazard. Make sure to have your dryer cleaned regularly. Because this might involve taking most of the dryer apart, it is recommended to have a qualified appliance repairman perform this task.

2. Thermostat
There are a couple of cycling thermostats inside the dryer. If one of them breaks down, it might affect the dryer's performance. Replace the defective thermostat.

Low heat output

A clogged or partially clogged vent . Especially if vents up thru the wall . If it vents straight out , make sure you have good air flow to the outside . Make sure the vent hose has no sharp kinks also . Try drying a load with the vent hose disconnected from the dryer . If clothes dry fine , that tells you the problem is elsewhere . Normally , a dryer either heats or doesn't heat . A heat for a few minutes then stops heating but continues to run complaint ,would be bad coils on the gas valve .
