Some of the ICs on the power supply block are damaged. This can possibly due to high voltage or defective IC. What you can do now is to get a new PS block. If you can get me the part number i can help you find it..
Hello,
This is a classic case of a faulty lamp(even though it is new). Possible that it is a ballast(lamp power sply) problem but it is more likely that the lamp doesnt quite meet the required specifications. Your lamp may be a Non-OEM or a refurb. You should try to get it exchanged with the vendor you bought it from.
justlamps.com is a great source for bulbs.
good luck
Well we need to have in mind that a generic lamp will give you 3500 to 4500 lamp hours and the Phillips will give you 6000 to 8000 lamp hours ,The lamp itself typically uses AC current and about 15,000 volts to ignite the lamp's mercury vapor gas. The gases inside the lamp react when electricity charges up the mercury gas creating very bright light. The voltage drops to keep the flow of electricity to the lamp. The symptom of a bad ballast is that you could hear a constant CLICKING or electrical BUZZING sound,my recomendation is to take out the lamp to physically check for any sings,(shatter fillement, black or grey spots in the fillement or smoke ) you can get good deals at http://www.discount-merchant.com/?click=52978 Please keep us posted,
If its Sony KF-42SX300 TV then replace lamp in TV, Lamp replacement procedure is written in instruction manual. Please buy Sony original lamp for TV safety and avoid aftermarket/ cheaper lamp.
I have highlighted the 2 areas where there are finger screws that need to be removed to access the lamp. It is a bit tricky the first time the cover is removed but, once done you will have access to the lamp door. This is the same as model KF-42WE610 sold here in the United States. If the lamp has never been replaced than that is the suspect. Anymore questions you can email me at tvtek(@)msn.com
