No, the fan is for a socket 775 cpu, you have a socket 478 cpu so the bracket will be different

CPU fan could be bad or the fan in the power supply is bad. A bad CPU fan can damage the CPU if not repaired promptly. Good luck.

Dear sir,

if this board has AGP slot, try to use AGP card inspite of PCI display card .. second thing when u power up the board . short its crystal oscillator for 2 second during switching on ..by screw drivers..if if it will not provide display .

then open fan & reinstall CPU .. if cpu is OK ( only can be tested on other board ) ..then something is wrong with Northbridge ../ or power supply mosfet of board if fan is not running ..

My CPU fan started to become unreliable and would not always start. This gave me an error tone when this happened. I therefore replaced the whole assemble with a akasa AK-955 unit from maplin. This worked...

i hate to say this but you may have had a bad fan sent to you or it is not connected into the actual cpu fan port. or the fan is giving false rpm readings to the bios even though the cpu is staying cool.....last thing.... make sure you used thermal paste to install the heatsink/fan ect... otherwise you may run a high risk of burning the cpu.

If the CPU is dead the problems can be
  1. no power
  2. no fans etc or
  3. power, no beeps (errors)
If the Ram is not compatible it would be constant beeping.

With the board in, and power supply 20pin + 4pin Pent 4 power attached,(#2 and #7 of motherboard layout) remove power cord from power supply.
CLRCMOS0 allows you to clear the data in CMOS. The data in CMOS includes
system setup information such as system password, date, time, and system
setup parameters. To clear and reset the system parameters to default setup,
please turn off the computer and unplug the power cord from the power
supply. After waiting for 15 seconds, use a jumper cap to short 2 pins on
CLRCMOS0 for 5 seconds. Remove the jumper. Remove heatsink and fan from CPU. disconnect cpu and reseat it. Re-install heatsink and fan. Plug in the power cord. Try to boot up. If it still does not boot and (no power, no fans etc.) problem would then be cpu is fried.

Your current motherboard is an mATX form factor. I recommend staying with that form factor for your new motherboard if staying with your current case. When upgrading to the new board you choose don't forget that you may need to upgrade the power supply unit also. You should upgrade to either a socket AM2+ board with dual core amd cpu or socket 775 board with Intel Duo Core2 cpu.
