My washing machine does not stop filling up it runs over.It still spins the water out, but was making an awful grinding noise.

FIRST, IF IT DOESNT STOP FILLING YOU EITHER HAVE A CLOGGED VACUUM LINE OR A BAD PRESSURE SWITCH. AS FOR THE NOISE WHEN IT SPINS, TAKE OFF THE BELT, CHECK PULLEY FOR THE MOTOR AND PUMP, IT SHOULD SPIN FREELY AND TIGHT. IF THEY BOTH GOOD, AND THE NOISE IS AROUND THE MIDDLE OF THE TUB ON TOP OF THE TRANSMISSION, MEANS YOU HAVE A BAD TUB BEARING

Machine makes awful noise during any movement, spins very slowly, not enough to spin out. Making an awful noise, like stripped gears and won't drain

There are three reasons for such awful noise during spinning. Either the drum or the bearing turning the drum. Check for drum bearing failure if your washing machine is noisy on the spin cycle. Drum bearing failure is common when the bearing seals start allowing water to enter. You can take the belt off and spin the drum by hand, and if the drum rumbles, replace the bearings.

Thanks

Making an awful ratcheting noise during aggitation and spin cycles

Under the agitator there is a rachet mechanism that works the agitator. If it is stripped, it will skip until the next good tooth.. when it fails entirely the agitater will stop going back and forth. Its nylon and age along with overloading hastens its dearg.. If you can get the parts you can replace it yourself without difficulty. There is a single bolt in the center of the agitator top . Remove and loft agiyator straight up.

Agitator ''dogs'' not gripping, agitator spins freely; tub rocks

Likely a broken dog itself was making the noise. They should all be replaced.
