Yes the infrared sensor is located inside the set usually up front. You can tell its the IR because it will have a wire harness plugged into it. And a small sensor board maybe a small canister also. You may have to go in throu back, if you cant get in behind speaker cover.

New battery did not help. Could a reboot on the remote in the cabinet help?

Presuming that the IR codes for the 0~9 numbers are captured correctly, then problems like this are usually down to either insufficient time between key presses, which can be solved by adding a small macro delay to each key; or the device being controlled is receiving multiple IR streams either directly from the hand unit and the IR emitters, or there's a blaster in the cabinet that's bouncing IR in multiple paths.

Did you have the system installed professionally or is this a DIY job?

I just purchased two remotes on line. One is a 3.0IR 119946. The other is a 4.0 IR 132577. The 3.0 IR works fine on my model 2700 receiver but the 4.0 IR won't work is there any was to program the 4.0 IR...

Hi, my name is Cheri Torres with DISH Network customer service I came across your post and wanted to see if I could help. The 4.0 IR/UHF remote should be able to work fine with the 2700 receiver and you should be able to address it the same way you did the 3.0IR remote. One thing you are going to want to make sure of is that the 4.0 remote is set up for IR instead of UHF, you can insure this by inserting the green TV1 tab into the front of the remote. Once you have the green TV1 tab in you can try to readdress your remote again. I would like to list here for you the instructions for addressing the remote to the receiver just in case you need them. :) I hope you find this information useful and if you have any further questions feel free to post back here or email me at Cheri.Torres@dishnetwork.com.

Instructions for addressing remote to receiver
  1. Go to System Info screen. In order to do this you will want to take out your smart card from the front left side of the receiver.
  2. Hold down the SAT button until all mode lights light up.
  3. Enter a number between 1 and 15 using the numeric keypad on the remote.
  4. Press the pound (#) button
  5. Once the SAT button blinks three times, press record. Note: If successful the number selected in step 3 will appear in the System Info screen under Remote Address.
