Question about Philips GOGEAR SA6045 MP3 Player

2 Answers

Corrupt Files/Other? I bought my Philips GoGear a few weeks ago, and I've been experiencing several problems. 1-A lot of my music files seem to be corrupting. Random songs, which are fine when I download them, are 'cut off' halfway through, or even within the first 10 seconds of the track. I have no idea what to do about this, and it has become an annoyance. As well as this, it doesn't happen to all the tracks. Some, which I saved onto it the first day I got it, have stayed perfect the entire time. Others 'corrupt' and no matter how many times I download them, the same thing happens eventually. 2-This problem is probably closely connected to the first. Randomly, it will say a certain song is playing while, in fact, it's playing something completely different. Like the actual song has transferred itself into another file or something. 3-And finally, it keeps freezing. And I have to re-set it...it doesn't affect anything on it (that I've noticed) but it's a nuisance trying to find something small enough to push the button.. Anyone have any idea what the problem is? Can I fix it myself or is it time to dig out my reciept?

    Thank you for the suggestion!

I have reformatted it just now, so I'll give it a few days to see what happens. I'll get back to you soon.

Good Day, Have you tried reformatiing it? Over a period of time your info can get corrupt from transering music back and forth. To format plug it in to usb. Go to my computer It shows up as a removably disc, usually drive f: Right click on drive f: (or the approriate drive) and click format. Let me know what happens, you will have reload the player, also try bypassing the software you are using to tranfer, by opening up drive f: and clicking and dragging your music into it , or you can copy and paste it into drive f: L8R

How do i remove music files off off my gogear vibe 4gb and only if it is certain songs i want to take off to make more room for new music files...

Hi t lq,

There are several ways to delete music files from your GoGear Vibe, depending on which model you have (model numbers typically begin with "SA" and are located on the unit), and whether you want to delete off of the player or off of your PC. Either way, you can delete specific music files by following the below directions.

If you have additional questions or need further support, Consumer Care can be reached at 1-888-744-5477 or visit www.philips.com/support and enter your model number to be directed to the product specific page (which includes FAQ's, manuals, chat, software, etc.).

Hope this helps! If so, let me know by rating this solution!

Delete directly from the player:

REMINDER: This method is only for player with OPTIONS / 100318094423_31296.gif button only.

1. Highlight the file or folder you want to delete.
2. Press OPTIONS / 100318094423_31296.gif button your player.
3. Select DELETE.
4. Repeat Step 1-3 when you want to delete more than one file or folder.

Delete from your PC:

1. Connect your player to your PC. You player will load automatically just like the picture shown in step 2.
2. Select Open device to view file.

(If it does not load automatically, you can double click "My Computer" and then double click the icon of your player.)

3. Select the files you want to delete.

HINT: You can press and hold the Ctrl button on the keyboard to select more than one file.
4. Right click the highlighted files and select Delete.
5. Select Yes to confirm.

What converter should i needed for my philips gogear aria can't able to download songs...

MP3 players can only play music files in mp3 file format. You need to convert your CDs to mp3 music files onto your computer ordownload them from the Internet and then copy them to your MP3 player.
You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player willcreate a MP3 music file for each music track.

Philips gogear vibe will not open music folder

HAve you tried resetting the go gear when the fault came in, if not try to reset the go gear. There is a tiny hole on the go gear, use an office pin to push and hold for few seconds to reset,Now the set must work fine. If not connect your gogear to the PC and do a scan for virus or corrupt programmes installed. If so delete, save the listed programmes to the PC and reinstall them back. Use the media convertor software provided when you are converting media files on the go gear or else it will not read or access. Hope the advice helps you. Good day

Installation for philips gogear using apple macintosh

Can't. But, you can simply plug in the gogear into a mac USB port and manually drag music into the MUSIC folder. Files must go into that folder for player to recognize them.

Other than that, software only available for PC.

There are a few possible answers:
1)Start simple - disconnect the GoGear from the computer - let it update - then reconnect it to the computer; if this fails, restart your computer and try syncing again

2)You need a firmware upgrade to make the device compatible with your computer: just open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips) - if you don't see it, then re-run the installation CD or grab the "Device/Firmware Manager" from the Philips website; click on the update tab

3) The songs have Digital Rights Management (DRM) protection.Try re-downloading the songs without DRM protection.

4) The songs are in a format not recognized by the GoGear. The GoGear, for instance, will not take iTunes files b/c they are AAC format. With MP3 files, the player supports 32 –320kbps. With WMA: 5-192kbps with sampling rate 8.0kHz up to 44.1kHz. Right click the song file, and select "Save As", and then change the format of the song file. Or, redonwload, in the above-said format.

Will not play songs

There could be several things going on:
1)Your music service subscription could have been cancelled

2)The device itself is not faulty. This is Microsoft's fault, not Philips'. Some of the songs may have Digital Rights Management (DRM) encoding that the SA178 will not support. You can right click on the trouble music file, select "Properties," and select the License or Digital Right tab - look for the msg: This file is not copyright protected. Find out if the songs that CAN'T be transferred have this message. If so, then click on acquire digital rights (or some variant of that phrase). If the files tha CAN'T be transferred DO have Digital rights protection, then you must save the files in a different format that is stripped of DRM encryption.

Otherwise:
Make sure you back up all songs on the GoGear before attempting this solution.

1) Back up all files on the GoGear
2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips)
3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button
4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new

Now you can do the firmware upgrade that will prevent this problem from occuring in the future. Open up Philips Device Manager and click the Update tab. This problem was caused because most GoGear's were designed for Windows XP with Media Player 10 (which is no longer the latest standard).
