Question about Craftsman 3 gal. Air Compressor, 1.5 hp, Horizontal k

1 Answer

Craftsman 3 gal ari compressor low presure

The compressor builds to 120 lbs on the tank guage and on the regulator guage. When I try to put air in my tires 60lbs no air goes into the tires from the tank. I tried 3 different air chuch connections. I thought the regulator may have ben the issue but the regulator does show 120 LBS at max.

Put a blower on the hose and see if air comes out
very possible there is a blockage in the hose or if you are using quick connects they may have failed

I have a 3 gal craftsman air compressor. Compressor runs but will not build more than 20 psi in tank reserve. Whats wrong?

if shuts down at 20 psi regulator is set wrong
it runs but only builds 20 psi, compressor is probably worn out

Compressor runs and sounds ok, but it only manages to show 20 lbs. It will not build air pressure and continues to run.

check air tank drain valve located on bottom of tank, if it is not leaking try adjusting air pres regulator (large black knob close to air hose connection.) the knob when turned in will increase the tank air pressure, if knob wont turn check that lock ring on bottom of knob to make sure it is disengaged. also check for air leaks in all lines and connections

I have a 3 gal 1 hp air compressor and it will only build pressure to 27 lbs.

If it makes hesitation sounds just before shutting off, you need to oil the compressor as per the manual. This is the most common problem.
If it is kicking on and off normally, you need to adjust the pressure relay. The instructions are under the cover.

Craftsman 30 Gal. 150 PSI Not building air over 45lbs

The compressor valve may have a faulty gasket or seal, and maybe leaking air internally. Or the compressor might be going downhill. You can try to replace the valve seal and see if that makes a difference, otherwise you need to replace the compressor.

Tank will not build pressure beyond 25 lbs. Just runs

IS YOUR AIR FILTER CLOGGED. SOUNDS LIKE THE VALVES IN YOUR HEAD ARE NOT CLOSING ALL THE WAY. THEY ARE MOST LIKELY REED VALVES, THIN STRIPS OF METAL THAT OPEN AND CLOSE WHEN THE PISTON MOVES. MAKE SURE THEY ARE CLOSING ALL THE WAY (NOT CARBONED UP). DID YOU REMOVE THE HEAD AND DID YOU PUT BACK LIKE YOU FOUND IT - NOT TURNED OR FLIPPED OVER. SEE IF YOUR FINGER WILL GET SUCKED UP TO THE INTAKE HOLE.
