try these:-

  • connect it to pc and on it
  • vaccum the barrel of lens
  • changing mem. card and batt. for 2min.
  • shake it.
  • on and off in different positions
  • hit the part near lens softly with palm (trust me this made mine work)

Error code S0042, DIMAGE G600

The S0042 error code relates to a problem with the zooming mechanism (lens would not retract or extended)
Press the power button on and hold it down while extending and twisting the telescopic zoom lens. It might fix your problem. Let me know if it worked!

Nikon autofocus shows r10 and the autofcus is not working when I zoom in and seems to be making a noise

The "r10" message in the viewfinder is NOT an error code. The "r" stands for "remainder" and the "10" is the value. Together, it tells you how many more photos the camera's built in, high speed memory buffer can hold BEFORE the shutter will be stopped - so that the pictures in this memory can be transferred to the removable memory card. The process will take a few seconds or more - depending on the speed of the memory card you provided in the camera. If you pay attention to the the "r" number, while taking photos is rapid succession, after each picture - the number will decrease by one. When it reaches 0, you can no longer take additional pictures. During this time - the camera is moving the pictures to the memory card. When done, the "r" number will be high again, and the shutter will operate again.

The auto focus motor will make some noise it is turning to advance or retract the focus mechanism, and is normal. The camera requires sufficient contrast to obtain focus. Most of the time, a well lit subject will provide this. If you are zoomed in on a rather featureless subject - such as a clear or overcast sky, solid color flat wall, etc., where there is a lack of contrasting objects in the viewfinder, the camera can not detect an "edge" on any object; so it attempts to focus over the entire range of the lens to find it. If it can't, it prevents the shutter from releasing.

There is also a minimum distance that the lens will focus, too. If you are trying to zoom in on a close object, the lens may not be able to do it. In this case: either back away, zoom out - or both. If you need to get close to objects, you should consider buying "Macro" lenses. Nikon brand lenses that do this type of photography, oddly are called "Micro" lenses instead.

I hope this helps. Good luck!

Fuji finepix a600

If the camera was on when it was dropped you probably jamed the lense coil. The lense coil is what helps the camera smoothly pull in the lense and back out. Now, just to specify, what exactly are you having a problem with? Will the actual lense not go back into the camera when you turn it off; or can you not get your camera off zoom?
Let me know~

I just found my husbands old Minolta maxxum 5 AF Zoom lens camera. I don't know how to zoom in. I am trying to take close ups of my infant and it appears that I can only zoom in on objects 4 feet away....

It's not the fault of the camera itself, it's a lens issue. Zoom lenses can only get so close before the min focus is obtained. Unless you have a macro lens (not suited for portraits, which can focus down to mere inches. Most zooms aren't really designed for close focusing though there are higher end lenses that can be less than 1.5 feet.

Hope this helps!

Sigma macro lense

If it doesn't turn correctly, that strongly indicates you didn't reassemble the lens properly. Take it apart and try again. And I hope you have a lens collimator and other tools to ensure you get the lens elements aligned properly.

Zoom error

you may be true that sand must be creating this problem, as this happens very often. the sand enters into the lense assembly, creating friction in the movement. if this has happened total dismantelling and cleaning of the lense assembly will solve the problem, but that has to be done by an expert at the repair shop.

HP R707 Digi Cam...zoom lense not working

I had the same problem - try to wiggle the zoom lense really carefully and the switch it on again. The zoom objective is canted a little bit and the motor is too weak to move the zoom objective. You can also open the camera by removing all 8 screws around the camera and then removing the metal front (Just pull it in the direction of the zoom lens with your fingernails). Then you can access the zoom lens better ... Andy
