Question about Harman Kardon SoundSticks II Computer Speakers

Can't find a power adapter.

HK's site says "not available" and has said the same thing for over 6 mos. I think they have dropped the product - or at least dropped the ball. Does anybody have a line on an AC adapter that will work? I can wire the power in directly but does anyone know the required voltage?

Re: Can't find a power adapter.

Most speakers use a 5-12 volt DC power supply, you can get an adjustable power supply from radio shack which can be used as a replacement for your power supply. Just look on your spaeker unit for the voltage and current and hand these readings to the sales person and they should be able to show you a power supply that can be used in its place.

Cannot find power adapter for mms171w philips system. Needs AC/AC adapter with 10v ac at 1.8 amps output. Cannot find aftermarket counterpart either. Help. Lost adapter while moving.

Hi there,
What does the other end of the adapter look like?
Is it a conventional circular one or is it a special port like it's thin square like or USB like maybe?
If it's conventional any 10v 1.8amp or 2 amp output should do and a lot of them are available in e-bay or if there's a Best Buy, Staples, Etc near you can just drop a visit purchase one and it should work like a charm.
However if it's not a conventional adapter you may have to contact philips and purchase one that is compatible from them.
Hope this shed some light on your problem!

Need the AC 15V 1.1a power supply

Hi Tracy,

Wow, this was a hard one. I called both Harman Kardon and Dell, seems HK made the speakers for Dell, but neither company carries parts any more. I called Radio Shack thinking they would have a generic power supply, not even close. I looked at several places on the internet and had no luck.
I do have a little good news, I was able to find a few on Ebay, so if you don't mind buying used, you can get a power supply there. They even have a Buy Now offer so you would not have to bid on it. The power supplies are listed as 1100mA which is the same as 1.1A.
Also, if you get the it and the plug in is not the right size, take the speaker to Radio Shack and they will be able to sell you the correct plug, all you will have to do is splice in the new plug. With it having an AC output, you don't even have to worry about the wires being crossed as you would with DC. Hope this helps you.

What size power adapter does it use?

You need a AC to DC power supply capable of supplying 120VAC in, 12VDC out @ 1 amp (1000 mA). The center of the plug must be + and the outside -. I believe Dell supports these speakers and may have the power supply available. Radio Shack might have a substitute PS as well, you just have to match the plug size. Be careful what you pay for it, a new pair of these speakers can be purchased for around $20.

Here is a 12v 1500mA adapter (the mA rating can be higher that what you need, but not lower) from Radio Shack… but its more expensive that a new set of speakers.

I only need the AC Adapter Campanion 2 for my Bose spearkers. How can I find just the adapter?

Look where the AC adapter would plug in.
Look for "rating", e.g., 'DC' or 'AC',
and '6V' or '9V',
and look at the size/shape of the plug.

Then, go to a "Dollar Store" or "Thrift Store", and try to match the ratings and the plug-layout with the available inventory.

Or, contact BOSE, and see if you can buy it from their web-site.
