model T, either you have a stuck or shorted broil keypad or the relay on the board is welded closed. Try this, remove the back panel behind the control panel. Make sure the breaker is off to the range. Unplug the keypad ribbon cable to the main board. Power the unit back up. You should get an error code. Now if the broiler still comes on you know you have a welded broiler relay on the board. If the broiler doesn't come's the keypad. Catriver.

I'm having trouble with the model # provided. If there is no switch directly behind the knob that turns that element on then it has a control board that is most likely behind the back panel about midway down on the left side. If it is this setup you will need to replace the board. If it has a switch directly behind the knob then replace that switch. Make sure unit is not plugged in when looking for or replacing parts.

SOURCE: bottom element will not turn off

Your BAKE element relay on the Electronic Oven Control (EOC) Board is shorted.  I have experienced this problem before.  The board is not serviceable and (unfornately) you will have to replace it.  The board can run anywhere from $100 to $200 for a new one.  Slightly less for a refurbished one.  Prices will also vary depending on source.  This is a repair you can do yourself if you choose to do so.  If you can provide me with your model number (located inside the lower door panel), I can do some research to get a part number and price for you.  Let me know.  I hope this is helpful.

The problem is caused by a shorted BROIL relay on the Electronic Oven Control board. I have experienced this problem before. The oven will continue to heat because it's being provided a constant power source. You are right to assume the reason for the oven temp error. This is common too.

Here's a TEMPORARY fix you can try:

1. Secure power to the range and remove the back panel from the console.
2. Unplug the BROIL element wires from the EOC and wrap them with electrical tape. It should be marked on the circuit card.

This will leave your broiler out of service, but you should be able to use the bake function. This should only be a TEMPORARY fix. The real fix is to replace the EOC. In the mean time, DO NOT leave the range plugged in while not in use (especially, if you are not going to be home, or while sleeping). This could be a definite fire hazard. If you post back with your model number (located around the oven door, or bottom drawer opening) I can give you an idea of how much the EOC would cost, and give you advice on how to replace it.

You need a new mother-board.

I had the same issue, it overheated my kitchen in a matter of minutes. If I didn't turn off the circuit-breaker, I probably would have had a fire - the heat being emitted was intense. The cost is running around $300. with tax and delivery. I'm not sure if I want to repair or purchase a new oven.

SOURCE: Element on light won't turn off when stovetop is cool

You have a burner sensor that is stuck in the open position sending the signal that the glass top is hot. This is not a safety concern but if you want the light working properly you will have to replace that sensor. Perhaps you can now call around and tell the various repair people what you need to have changed and they will be able to tell you how much it will cost.

My oven won't turn all the lights are on

If you started to say that the electric oven wont heat, but the lights are on, I"d like to start by asking if youve checked the outlet to make sure it was getting 220 v. If its getting only 110v, it would explain why the lights come on.. lights work off of 110v, but heating element requires 220.. if only 110v is showing on volt meter, id be checkin your breaker, look for half of a double pull breaker to be tripped...turn off, then on both of them..same thing if its a single pull 220 breaker.
If youve got 220v at the outlet, I"d personally touch the element to see if it gets warm at all the instant someone turns the oven on. See if it has any heat at all.
Check the element termilals for corrosion...check element for brittleness or curling...check for 220 v at the element terminals...if suggests the dial or thermostat

GE standing electric oven range. Oven lower element will not heat up.. only gets Luke warm, can still touch it, although the upper oven element gets very hot. What could the issue be?

Sounds like the bake element - do a visual check and look for blistering or cracking. If it looks normal, unplug the oven (or flip breaker for wall oven) and then you can remove the screw holding the element and pull it forward enough to unplug it and do a continuity test with a multimeter. If it test bad, replace the element.

We have a Kenmore range model 970-686430, which is just over three years old. A couple of days ago, we noticed that the element light was not turning off. The elements are working properly and are not...

I used to sell appliance parts. The thermometer built into the eyes are prone to hang up and leave the hot surface lamp on even tho is is cooled down. The only way to correct the problem is replace the expensive eye. This is an ongoing probo from day 1. Have we got a video on this one? OK let me look:
This one on dual switch operation does touch on the light left on with the element off.

Had been having trouble with one or two burners, then today oven heating element was out and none of burners work although surface indicator light goes on, and circuit breaker has not flipped.

did you reset you circuit breaker by shutting it off all the way and flipping it back on? try it. some times a breaker will only trip partiallly.

or its possible you have a bad connection where the power cord hooks up to the range

Oven and broiler: no heat

Flipped the breaker switch! Although we had looked at the breaker first thing, and it was not flipped off, plus everything else on the range was working: we found out it is actually a double breaker, with one half controlling just the oven, and it can be just partially flipped and you don't notice it. So as soon as you toggle it off and on again, you are back in full power.

Steps required to replace 2200watt element for fan forced Oven Westinghouse 688 freestyle.

Symptoms= Oven light ok, thermostat light ok, oven not heating at all or to a low heat. May also have tripped the circuit breaker on the switchboard
Probably the element
Switch off power to the oven at switchboard
Open the oven door just a little and pull the door up to remove it.
Lift the panel at the oven back wall over the fan.
See the coiled element, you may already see a defect in the surface of the element.
Remove the screw at the base of the coil
With a small sharp screwdriver flip out the clip on each side of the element at the top
Feed the element out of the holes
Note that the green wire is attached to the frame of the element and the red wire to the core of the element.
The other side of the element may have two white wires
Disconnect all these wires, maybe using a pliers.
You can check this element with a simply multimeter, buy a new element and refit opposite to removal

I have a Electrolux EXC643 Oven. When you turn on the oven, set to 200 deg C for example, the oven fan and light works, but the oven stay's cold. The circuit breaker has not been tripped, at any point....

circular element is almost certainly open circuit. often the breaker will trip when element goes faulty but not always. take rear cover off and check for continuity

Tappan TEF242BW oven stopped working

Have you tried the broil setting yet?
This will tell you if the upper element comes on.
If so, you may have a burned bottom element.

Problem w/burners & lights after self clean

You may want to re-seat the right two cooking elements, in case there is poor electrical contact. When you have them removed, clean the contacts with denatured 91% alcohol and a Q-tip. The removal procedure follows.
First, unplug the range.
To lift:  When cool, grasp the cooktop front
edge.  Gently lift up until the two support rods
snap into place.
To lower:  Hold the cooktop front edge and
carefully push back on each support rod to
release.  Then lower the top into place.
➢When an element is on, it will cycle on
and off to maintain the heat setting.
➢Coil elements are self-cleaning. Do not
immerse in water.
To remove:  When cool, raise element.  Carefully pull out and away from receptacle.
Check them for damage. They do wear out.
To replace:  Insert element terminals into receptacle.  Guide the element into place. Press down on the outer edge of element until it sits level on drip bowl.
➢ On Canadian models, the two front elements will not operate during self-clean.To prevent the risk of electric shock or fire, never line drip bowls with aluminum foil.

If that does work, you may have a faulty control panel. In that case, call Maytag at the number below.
