I would suggest checking all the connections again, making sure to note any visible damage, at least to just the connectors.
You can also try booting the machine with limited resources. Disconnect any drives, remove any cards other then the video (if not on-board), the ram as well. This will help narrow down if it is any of these causing the problem, limiting the fault domain.
Unfortunately damage is always a possibility.
