I have a 21 inch La Cie monitor whose screen intermittently suffers from patches of red pixels stretching jaggedly across the screen. This fault is intermittent and unpredictable. Any known cause?

My 321 LaCie monitor is over a year old and displays patches of red pixels across the screen soon after boot up, but intermittently. It doesn't do it every day or predictably, so is difficult to test with different settings. I am running the screen with default settings and it works well most of the time. Its attached to an AMD Athlon Dual Core processor 2.9 GHz with 3 Mb RAM. Thanks for your help.

First test the monitor on a different computer , to ensure that the problem is not the video adapter on computer.

If the patches are pale reddish shadow patches, growing up slowly on screen, then it is a polarization problem on the display, and that is difficult to fix.
If patches are red pixels, then it is a faulty video processor on LCD controller board, and you usually need to replace the lcd controller.

These kind of red patches comes when there is a loose connection
first check with the loose contact if those r correct next go for the
monitor settings due to clarity variation the pixels might might appear
thank you

Not really, this looks like a pressure mark which has damaged the screen surface. Easily done by pressing the screen with a finger or pencil / pen.

THERE is two small bright patches in the screen

the two small bright patches are actually bad pixels.there is nothing to worry about as upto 5-6 bad pixels are fine.these bad pixels do not spread generally so no reason to worry.in case the number of bad pixels on the screen increase to more than 5-6 then you can get your unit replaced by the manufacturer if in warranty.

The image is stretched, how do i set for a normal image. its a 21 in moniter

some images will look streached if pixels of the picture are not as big as the monitor. what happens if you just use one of the windows images that come preloaded. if that is the case u can ether center it or find picture that has more pixels.

Gateway monitor pixels discolored on monitor

This happens when you keep a device close to monitor which uses wireless technology or signal(Cell phone, wireless router or modem). Also try to make distance between speakers and monitor, as speakers contains magnets and that causes such issues.

You can adjust the screen resolution to increase the size of the image to fill the screen.
Go to the Control Panel - Display - Settings and adjust the screen resolution to 1280 X 1200 pixels. If this still doesn't fill the screen then increase it further say 1600 X 1200 pixels even higher if necessary.
