How do you remove the cd rom from toshiba satellite 4030CDT in order to replace with dvd

open cd rom door just clean lense with soft cloth ...if same
remove cd rom romove top cover then romove buttom u can see on back of lense two veriable for lense adjustment try one by one one adjustment is for normal cd and one is for dvd cd dont try together.. move little bit...and clsoe and then check... Thanks

You can use the Toshiba Satellite guide for removing and replacing the DVD/CD-ROM drive or the keyboard. On this model you have to remove the keyboard in order to remove and replace the DVD/CD-ROM drive because the optical drive securing screw is located under the keyboard. Always start laptop disassembly with removing the battery or you can damage the system board if you accidentally touch it with a screwdriver and shorten traces. Removing the keyboard strip is not very difficult, use your fingers to release the plastic latches. If you want to replace the keyboard, do not forget to unlock the connector on the system boar before you pull the cable.

You should be able to, there is usually only one screw holding the drive in, if you hold the replacement up to where the instlled one is, you should see the approximate location of the screw ( may be under another panel, Memory,hard drive etc.., the drive will just slide out, then make sure the connectors are the same, and swap or place the mounting bracket on the new one, and slide it back in place, replacing any screws removed

You can use almost any laptop cd rom, cd/rw, cd/rw-dvd rom, dvd rom, or dvd/rw that you can find. You might have to transfer the mounting pieces from the old to the new, but that is no big deal.

Should be able to find a used one for in the $20 to $30 range.

Because it is a toshiba laptop, you will need to buy a model-specific dvd drive for your laptop direct from toshiba, or at least from an authorized toshiba reseller. This is not something you would get from your local best buy.

Order online, or select "Locate Dealer" and find one in your area.

My suggestion is to call up a dealer and verify that this model is compatible with your laptop, because yours is on the older side the slim select bays may be a little too small.

install the proper video drivers and set the screen resolution 1024x768

hi the removel of the dvd drive is easy as taking out the battry 1. Remove the battery from the bottom of the laptop 2. Make sure the laptop is NOT plugged in. 3. There is a release button for the CD/DVD ROM drive on the bottom of the laptop, simply press and hold the release switch and pull the CD/DVD drive out. replace it with your new 1 good luck
