Ubuntu vga driver sis661fx

Hello try the linux driver here:

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Desktop+Boards&ProductLine=Third-Party+Chipset+Boards&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+Desktop+Board+D201GLY2

Here is the homepage:

http://www.asrock.com/mb/SIS/P4S61/

If you can`t get the driver working, add a agp graphic card, on the mainboard that supports ubuntu/linux.

Here is a list of supported NVIDIA Graphics Chips:

http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/1.0-9755/README/appendix-a.html

Try ebay for a used card.

The drivers can be downloaded here:

http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

By selecting the graphic card model, and the linux system.

Good luck

I want to upgrade my cpu for this mother board from 1.8 ghz to 2.8 ghz. What cpu should I go with. Am I going to run into problems with the bios or anything else. Also need to know if I can upgrade...

Here is a link for your mobo

http://www.asrock.com/MB/overview.asp?Model=P4VM800

looks like you can use any intel processor as long as its a socket478 by intel

Check out nvidia agp cards at www.nvidia.com You can get a 512mb card agp.

The bios is plug and play which should not be a problem.

You may need to upgrade the memory also.

How do I find my graphics card on acer laptop 4720z and change settings to best play games

* The system configuration of Acer Aspire 4720Z PC Notebook is :

160 GB or larger hard disk drive / 5-in-1 card reader / 512 MB or 1GB DDR2 533 MHz DIMM module / Intel Pentium dual-core mobile processor technology T2310 (1 MB L2 cache, 1.46, 533 MHz FSB), Mobile Intel GL960 Express Graphics Chipset.

* Your system have "Mobile Intel GL960 Express Graphics Chipset" graphics accelerator card embedded in the motherboard. Like most of the laptops/notebooks, there is no room for upgrading the graphics card in the motherboard!

* But you can upgrade the RAM upto 2 GB using two DDR2 DIMM memory modules.

* If you want to play 3D games with better performance, switch to Windows XP SP2 and upgrade the RAM!

* If you want to upgrade the memory (RAM), you can check this site : http://www.laptoppartsexpert.com/c-60093-acer-aspire-4720-series-as4720z.html

please rate this advice if it helps...tc! :)

Which latest Graphic card can be supported by my Asrock P4i45GV?

Hi

Any video card that supports AGP x8 Should work on this motherboard.

For example Nvidia 7800 GS AGP or 7600 GS AGP should work fine.

But a better investment would be to upgrade the motherboard to a PCI-E supporting board and possibly AMD Dual or Triple / quad core processor the ram is very cheap for DDR2 these days.

Upgrade would be best in long run.

ASrock P4i45GV Motherboard

Hi sandesh8, did you know you can increase the memory size of the onboard AGP card above the 64MB? Page 26 in you're manual. If you install another AGP card into the opened AGP slot, please go to this site & only use the recomended AGP cards in the Asrock list. Click on this link: http://www.asrock.com/mb/vga.asp?Model=P4i45GV%20R5.0&s=478&c=VGA
This is one of very few video cards found on the list with 256MB of video memory.

Graphics cards and sound cards

Hi

You don't need any special sound and graphics card to support AMD Athlon 1700+ Processor.

Just ensure you have a systemboard that support Socket 462 (also called Socket A). Sound and graphics support are generally a feature of the systemboard in use.

Check Socket A AMD Processor Installation Guide for more info - http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/white_papers_and_tech_docs/23986.pdf

Mike
