Question about HP OfficeJet t45 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Open Question

Open Cover, Clear pen carriage jam and then press enter.

I recently had the carriage belt brake on my HP Officejet T45xi and cause my print job to come to a halt. I ordered a new belt disassembled the printer and installed the belt. I put everything back in its place and now when I turn it back on, it says to: Open Cover, Clear pen carriage jam and then press enter. I open the cover, close then hit enter but all it does is move a little to the left, stop and then give the same error message. I keep doing this to see if it will clear but the carriage eventually moves all the way to the left. Is there anything else that needs to be done.

SOURCE: Carriage Jam HP Officejet 7410 All-in-One

Hi Guys, Had the same problem, tried the idea from Kate712 with some joy but not for long (now Ive got ink all over me). Played around with the encoded position tape that runs the entire length of the left/right travel. Mine had a slight twist to the right side. Maybe the twist was preventing contact with sensors the brains use to establish carriage position, Im not 100%. Tried deliberately twisting the tape to re-create the fault and got the same error message to re-appear. Theres like a garbage bag tie arrangement in this position tape thats used to secure it at the right side of the carriage. There is an arrow type push through arrangement that feeds back around a support and through itself with an arrow. Mine only had one point of the arrow though the hole and once I pushed the other through the tape untwisted with a little poke with a pen. Hope this helps

Error message= open door clear carriage jam and

I think the message is instructions, as in
(1) open door (2) clear carriage jam (3) press enter
So there is something internal to the printer that makes it think it has a carriage jam, piece of paper under a sensor, dirty or stuck sensor.
If you can't find it using a bright light, try canned air.

It consistently starts to print and then stops/reads (Carriage jam). I open the door and press OK but it does it again. It does say "clear carriage jam" but I don't see anything, am I supppose to be...

I would say just turn this printer off and unplug it for an hour or so. Then see what it does when you turn it back on. If it still says clear paper jam then maybe there is a small piece of paper that you haven't found yet that the sensors are still seeing.

Check and clear any unfinished print jobs before turning the printer back on. Control panel>>>>printers >>>>then right click on your printer(hpofficejet 6210) properties-cancel print jobs

Hope this helps!

I am receiving an error message on my HP Officejet 6110 printer screen that prevents the printer from functioning. The message is "Open door. Clear carriage jam and then press enter." I've tried opening...

yes, that is a carriage jam and not paper, the grinding is from the clean station that gets blocked with dried ink and cant move. you need to open the printer and clean the ink off of the clean station so it can clean properly and not cause a carriage jam.

Carriage Jam

Make sure you can move the print cartridge holder freely and that it isn't being blocked by anything inside the printer, also check if the cleaning station is in the right position, maybe it is locking the cartridges.
