I searched for a WAAS enabled gps receiver and found I already had one in my lil' ol' garmin c330 gps receiver. Pulled up the manual, found how to enable WAAS and did so. Can't find how to pull up the latitude and longitude readings on screen. A friend showed me how to do so on her NUVI, but I should be able to get readings I need on the c330, according to Google.

The 330 and the 340 do not show latitude or longitude. That is a serious thing that Garmin left out of these two systems. Believe me you are not the first to find this is a problem.

WAAS is a seperate service from GPS. It provides GPS corrections so if you can not get WAAS there is no big problems. you unit just wont be as accurate as normal. WAAS only is for North America and EGNOS for Europe. You may want to turn WAAS off for now. I suggest trying a update for the unit. You will need a memory card and Garmin USB programmer. Then just go to garmins site to get the latest update. If you need a USB programmer feel free to Contact GPSCity.ca or GPSCity.com. They are the leading experts in Garmin GPS.
The internal battery needs replacement. You can change it yourself if you are comfortable with soldering, and are mechanically inclined. Search the internet for: "Replace battery Garmin c330" You'll need a small Philips head screwdriver to open the case, and to remove the battery holder. It is tricky to put the antenna back, so be careful.

If you are in an area which is not serviced by ground stations, having WAAS enabled may degrade the signal from the GPS satellites. Try enabling or disabling this feature.
To do so, acess the System Startup Page. On the Setup Menu page, highlight the System icon and press Enter. WAAS is the second available setting on this page.
Make sure your batteries are fresh; I prefer alkalines in this model. Set the battery type in the System Setup Page, same page as noted for WAAS above.
Another thought is to be sure you have the latest Garmin software installed. Visit their site to download the latest and greatest, free, of course.
I updated my Garmin by going to its web site and searching it till I found the free update instruction. Of course, your Garmin has to be connected to the computer first.
Due to a new satellite launched this year, the WAAS is affected.
Disable the WAAS, go to Garmin and download the latest software version
