Question about Toshiba Satellite A215-S4697 Notebook PC

1 Answer

Crazy graphics misfire on Bioshock. Makes it totally unplayable. What do I need to do? New drivers? Help. I'm a relative newbie at this.

I have a toshiba satellite A215 ss4697 Turion64 X2 TL-52. I am trying to run Bioshock (I know, I'm dreaming) But it runs fine through the opening sequence ON the place, then when the plane crashes, the screen becomes black with tiny white squares floating down, some angular stuff, and flames in the corners, but that's it. The game clearly starts as I'm getting directions to use W, S, A, D to move, but the graphics are a jumbled mess of things that are incoherent. Any help is welcome. Thanks, Andy

Thanks for the suggestion.  I thought this already happened during the install, but I went ahead and installed directx10 just in case.  But, no dice.  Same exact problem with Bioshock.

    Other details:
I am running it at lowest resolution and all graphics effects are off.
Also, I know something's wrong from the opening menu since there is no visible arrow or pointer for me to use when mousing.  I basically have to highlight "new game" by running my finger over the mouse pad over and over until the invisible pointer accidentally highlights one of the menu items.

Your graphics card cannot display the newer shader models this game uses. That is why everything looks as odd as it does. shader models are only upgradeable via hardware not software so new drivers wont help. and typically you cannot upgrade GFX on laptops. Sorry, you will need a Desktop system with a 6x nvidia chipset or ATI of similar power. I'd recommend though the 8x series though. (8800 or higher or equivilant)

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

How can I delete old podcasts from my Nano?

You will need to plug you nano into your computer and open iTunes. Once iTunes has recognized your iPod, click on the iPods name. There should be a page with a picture of your iPod, at the top of that page there will be a tab labeled "Podcasts," click on it. On that page there will be a check box with a drop-down menu, this is where we will change your podcast settings. The drop-down menu controls which podcasts are synced to you iPod:
All - This will sync all of your podcasts whether played or unplayed 1,3,5,10 most recent - this syncs only the (x) most recently added podcasts to your iPod All unplayed - if you have not played the podcast yet iTunes will sync them to your iPod 1,3,5,10 most recent unplayed - syncs the (x) most recently added unplayed podcasts to your iPod 1,3,5,10 least recent unplayed - syncs the (x) oldest unplayed podcasts to your iPod all new - syncs all of the newest podcasts 1,3,5,10 most recent new - syncs the (x) most recent new podcasts 1,3,5,10 least recent new - syncs the (x) least recent new podcast
those last two are a bit confusing, basically if you add a lot of podcasts you can either get the (x) newest of that set or the (x) least newest (hope that makes sense).
The second drop-down menu controls whether those setting apply to every podcast, or only the ones that you select in the menu underneath that.jsimpsonjr_0.png

Have you installed the drivers for new graphics card?go to the mother board web site and download lateset drivers for the motherboard not from cd.if not working then you need to go into the bios and turn off onboard video.that will keep conflicts from occuring between onboard graphics and video card.need more help with this contact me here.RICHARDM69

Hi, bioshock keeps shutting down to the desktop ,im useing vista home , i here theres some sort of game fix but cant seem to find it ,please help thanx

You may be using too much memory, so it doesnt have enough memory to do its functions. Un-install anything you dont use.
If this doesnt work, get the graphics card which is RECOMMENDED, NOT MINIMUM, simply because some games dont work on minimum.
If this still doesnt work, then get it checked out at a nearby Electronic Repair Store, and see what they make of it.
