Re: Big Screen TV

Good day, glojoe;
This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input/device and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source) 1. MAY BE INTERMITTENT, SELF-DIAGNOSIS ERROR 23 OR 24. CHECK SOLDER CONNECTIONS AT CONNECTOR "DY" ON THE YOKES. 2. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF-DIAGNOSIS ERROR 23 OR 24. CHECK C411 2200 UFD 35 V AND C412 10 UFD 50 V, BOTH LOCATED ON THE MAIN PCB. I hope this information was helpful, good luck, big IRISH.

TV wont turn on, makes buzzing noise and shuts off

I have two RCA HD52W59 TV's. I have had one for 3 years and one 4 years. The one I have had for 4 years is giving me the problem. Last week the tv turned off while watching it. It wouldnt come right back on. 10 minutes later we tried and it worked fine. the other night the kids were watching and it turned off and smelled like something burning. I tried turning it right back on and got no power at all. I tried to turn it on two days later and it made a buzzing noise and the green light went out. Never did get a picture, no powering up on the screen. Any ideas? Don't want to spend alot of money. Really loved the TV hope it isnt junk now. Better yet I hope the same thing doesnt happen to the other one I have.

Projection TV turns off for a few seconds

Good Day, boattech1;
To my understanding the Model 53UDX10B is a rear projection, that uses no fans. I think maybe your LAMP may be getting weak.
Good Luck, big IRISH.

Sony SXRD Projection TV

This is a fan issue, most likely the large fan in the rear, lower left (from the back)...

Here's the fix, I promise, it's EASY........

Ok, I think I have the answer for the BIG FAN failure. I recently did a similar fix on the spindle of an xbox 360 and it is identicle. Ok, this is an EXTREMELY EASY FIX...

Open the back of the tv, locate the large fan (on the lower left on the back of the set.) unscrew the screen and remove the fan.

Once the fan is removed, you will see the side with the model number and the other side is totally open.

On the open side, pull...

The fan will come off, into your hand, it is only held by magnets...

You will notice a spindle on the fan and the other side has the magnets and the hole where the spindle came from (this is the fan motor).

Clean both the spindle and the hole (motor) with a q-tip. The hole is smaller than the q-tip, but do the best you can to remove the old lubricant.

Get a bit of WD40 and lubricate the spindle and spray a touch in the hole.

Put them together, reconnect your fan, test it on startup and thank

Won't turn off unless unplugged

Ther eis a stand by function on the Television. If you have the owners manual read about that function. Th ered light stays on because it is programed to come on a t a certain time. Go to menu and find the stand by function.
