You need to access the motherboard and look for the disk shaped cmos battery (CR2032)and put in a new one as when the battery gets too flat it will cause a continual boot up cycle. If the battery is ok, then you will need to select Del or F2 on boot up to get into safe mode and select last known good configuration and hit enter for a reboot. if you have changed any hardware, then you need to repair windows using your XP cd

Adjust your power settings (you did not mention what operating system you have) Do a search in your RUN box for "Power Settings" Here you can chose the way you want things to run on your computer.

Computer will not come on after shutdown. may take 12 15 hour

I would look inside at the power supply IF you can get to that for puffed up caps---if found you can either replace them (seen some with several bad) or look for a generic replacement power supply.

Usually here it will begin by being hard to turn on at first but once on will operate--sooner or later it will not come on at all.

HP M7357c overheating problem

When the CPU in the computer or laptopoverheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermal overload) and won't boot upagain until it has cooled down. If this is the problem is not fixed then theCPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes this problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan. If the fan and heat sink is clogged withdust the remove the dust and make sure the vents are clear and dust free. Use acan of compressed air to do this.

Turns off without warning, will not start again unless turned off by holding in the button

Is the problem Consistent? By this i mean does it occur at a set amount of time into its use?
This sounds like it could be an overheating issue. Check to see if it turns off sooner when doing something CPU intensive, and if it turns off even sooner after you turn it on again. Try cooling the laptop somehow.

Always shutdown my IBM ThinkPad A21m 2628 PC Notebook

It must be a processor overheating problem, check the vents are not restricted and if the fan is always on or never comes on because of a faulty temp setting then theres a overheating problem and the processor will shut down before any damage.
