Question about HP Pavilion zt3010US PC Notebook

1 Answer

No video, drives work, everything seems OK, but will not drive external monitor either. Several times, when dropped 6" to table top, some video showed briefly, so I suspect a short or more likely open circuit somewhere. I just don't know where to look. Need a diagram and/or pics to know what to look for.

Something like this would be very difficult to diagnose. It sounds like an issue with the graphics controller, which is integrated onto the motherboard. My advice would be to see if you can replace the motherboard or find one on eBay that is broken and use it for the motherboard.

My ministation was doing the same, beeping and flashing green light after a light drop on the floor. Soo... I took my ministation usb drive out of the plastic enclosure and smacked it on the table a few times. Plugged it in and it spun back up!! Now my computer recognizes it and everythings working smooth! I assume something with the drive became jammed and the couple smacks loosened the drive head.. Anyway, if all else fails... beat it!

if you have a plug in VGA card remove it and connect the monitor to the computer plug in
if the monitor is good , replace the vga card
next make sure that all files, folders and data is backed up on an external hard drive
on start up , when you get the desk top screen up
in the search bar under the list of programs , type in-- chkdsk and click on it when it comes up just above where you typed in
that will energize the self check of the computer , hard drive files and folders and everything on the hard drive
be prepared for it to take around 6 hours for the check as it checks and repairs any faults found for every file and folder and there could be over 3 million spaces to check
you will get a report and if there is a hard drive problem , you will get such a message

OK when a laptop is used for any period of time with an External monitor, after a while it will cause damage to the laptops Video card every time. The Video Output is NOT meant to be used to drive an External Monitor ALL THE TIME,. It is suspected that the extra current draw of the external monitor hastens the demise, usually on will get roughly the amount of time you did 18 months to 2 years more or less depending on use. It also places extra strain on the Power Supply, and sometimes that "goes" at the same time, too. usually, when we get them at my shop, they are pretty much beyond economic repair and we advise as much to our client, I suspect you fall into that category. But if you still wish to proceed you should take it to an IBM authorised repairer, and ask for a "Quote" for repair. At least this way you'll know to repair or replace, I personally suspect the latter.

Nx9010 powers on but no video. fan spins.

Hello sir, hi, it seems you have a problem with memory modules, you need to open up your PC/laptop, and locate the memory. remove the modules, and clean its terminals (you clean then using a pencil eraser, just simply erase the terminals, until the contacts become shiny), with a soft clean paint brush, clean the memory slots too, then replace the modules, close then test the unit. do this several times until the unit boots up. keep me posted.

Aspire Notebook 5735-4774 won't display on external CRT monitor

If the video chip on the Aspire motherboard is OK then the image on the external monitor would be OK. If not then the video/motherboard is faulty.
To gain access to data on the hard disk, remove the hard disk and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter and plug it into a working computer's USB port. The computer will see this as an external hard drive.
Alternately -
You can put the hard drive in an USB hard drive adapter case and use it as an external USB hard drive.

I'm sorry to inform you that the hard drive already gone bad. Clicking sound is an indication of bad hard drive.

Check with some computer stores to see if they could offer a data recovery service so that you could still retrieve the files in that HD.

Have a great day!

No video on new Gigabyte GA-MA770-DS3 motherboard

There are a couple things that you need to look at. The first is your power supply. I've had computers seeming to run fine with no video. Turned out to be bad power supplies.
Does your video card require a power connection? Many high-end video cards need an external power connection. If the card has a power connection, use it.
Have you gone in and checked the cmos settings? What does it say (if anything) for the default video?
Now remove all connections to drives (hard drive and CD and try for video. Try it.
Next, if possible, swap out memory.
After you've tried everything (including maybe burning incense), time to try a new motherboard.

Dell Inspriron 700M- DvD drive plays audio on the dvd but not pic

To determine if you have a faulty LCD screen or a faulty video card, connect an external monitor to the laptop's video port, power up the external monitor first the the laptop. The video output should automatically switch to the external monitor. If you get a normal image then the video card is OK, and the fault is with the LCD screen.
If you still get a bad image, then the fault could be a faulty video card or video RAM. Most laptops use part of the main RAM module for video RAM, try reseating the RAM modules and or test the RAM modules. If the RAM is OK then the fault is the video card.
If you can determine the fault then I can possibly offer a solution.
