DVD was stuck, removed it, but now TV display is "Open"
We removed the stuck DVD by taking the back off and getting it out. Now, when we turn the unit on the menu diplays "DVD" or "Card". Then, it shows an icon of a dvd player in the corner and says "Open". Not sure if this means the dvd door is open or not, but we can't change the source to watch TV or anything else.
Re: DVD was stuck, removed it, but now TV display is...
You are having a all to common problem with this unit. The TV will need to be seviced. If you bought it from QVC they will give you a number to call if it is still in warranty. If not call the place where you bought it for help. At the present time Mintek has gone bankrupt. Another service company is making the warranty repairs.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones). click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Good luck!

If this is a combo unit the first thing you have to do is remove that dvd from inside the player. Open up the unit and do the deed. THEN see what happens. Often when the player gets jammed or whatever, it will render the rest of the set useless until the hassle is removed. In this case get that disk outta there.
If still nothing disconnect the power line that feeds the dvd to see if that has any effect on overall tv operation.
Remove the power and manually turn the loading mechanism to eject the DVD whichis struck up inside the player. Now if the DVD circuit seems to hang up again you can disconnect the connector to the main board to switch on the TV.
when you turn it on, does the splash screen come up on the TV?. if not, the players capacitor might have a bulge. to get the disk out, locate the small hole or slot on the back or bottom, and push a straight paper-clip in it, and the drawer should pop out enough to get your disk.
something stuck our dvd-door.
1. open the dvd
2. remove the thing that block our dvd door (like paper, tissue, paperclip)
maybe our dvd mechanic door had block by dust
-----basicaly, clean it.
in my case. I knock the upper top of the dvd door hard (but not by hammer, by my hand) while i push open button (the menu open/'open' word is display at the menu). if u're lucky, the dvd door will open
Probably something shorted out in the power supply. Sadly these days small TVs are cheaper to replace than to repair. To remove the DVD look for a small hole on the DVD tray door. Straighten a medium sixed paper clip and push into the hole and the DVD tray should release and open. Remove the DVD and toss the TV.
tere should be a little pin hole somewhere on or near the dvd player. take a paper clip straighten it out and put it in the hole you will have to push hard until the dvd holder pops out a little then pull it out until it stops. remove the dvd and push it back in then try to open the slot using the open button. it it doesn't work then you will need to take it in for repairs or replace the tv. though it would probably be cheaper to replace the tv.
Put it in stand by and unplug machine and open first door and turn DVD up side down & slowly push down on tray leaning the DVD player down ward and the disk will fall out. I had to do this a few times. They have a over heatting problem and of course you find this out just after the warrenty is up. You can tell this by opening up the top cover. It will have 3 borads and the one on the right I bet it's color off yellow is more brown then the other 2.
There is a guy who had the parts and fixes them for around 50 ponds and it takes about an hour. I am looking him up for mine.
You do not mention if you have unpluged the tv from the wall,is the easiest thing to try,if the set resets and still does not open the tray you can still force it open it manually but very carefully just to remove the dvd,if you can not force it open by pulling evenly in both extremes of the tray and you feel the dvd still is not coming out even with the tray open, dont go further and get help from a servicer,we do not want to break the mechanism.(set should be unplug )You can also remove the back cover and see if the main conector to the dvd player can be unplug,if it does you can leave it unplug and try turning the set on.This information might help you make a decision but the best solution will be to disassembly the dvd and remove the stuck dvd without forcing anything. The set is faily new and is worthed the repair.Let Us know how it goes.
