I have the sd card installed but the maps need to be restored. Backing it up corrupted them permanently or something. The map disc has a utility to do this, but it doesn't seem to work.

Holding down the hard reset button will reset the units. If, somehow, you have deleted the maps off the SD card you will need to contact mio about getting a replacement. place the memory card into a memory card reader and see what files are present in the /miomaps/maps folder.

The Mio came supplied with a SD Ram card (1GB) that contains the other maps. You need to power off the gps, insert the SDRam card and then power on the GPS and HOLD the power button down for at least 10 seconds. The system should re intialize and off you go.. There is/was a link on mio's home page regarding the C220 and the SD card Pete

You probably found the answer by now but if not, the other states are on an SD card that should have been supplied in the box.  Just put in th card and leave it there.  You will find all the states.

The C220 comes with an SD card with all the maps. Or an SD card can be created with the included CD

My GPS is missing most maps & I cannot seem to transfer from cd

the maps are on the 1gb sd card in the side of your c220 unit.
If it's missing, get a 1gb sd card and find a computer that will accept sd cards and your cd that came with your gps, then download the maps from the cd to the sd card.
Your c220 only has 4 states on the unit itself.

The c230 has all the maps on the unit but only 1 million POIs versus 3 1/2 million on the c220

the c230 has the maps imbedded in the gps. Your CD that came with it has maps to dowmload to your gps through a USB cable. It does not have other countires.

Mio c220s canadian version

I would thnik you could download the US maps from a US cd that came with their unit to an SD card.

The C220 for the US comes with 4 states on the GPS and the rest on an SD card that is in the side of the unit
I downloaded the 46 maps form my cd to a 1GB SD card that I put in a sot on my computer.

I have a Mio C220 that does not power on even though battery is charged. Will not work off of battery or plugged into cigarette lighter. Bought it in Nov. 07 but have lost box, receipt, software, and all...

Mio wants people to know, especially the folks who recently bought the Mio C220, that you need to put the SD card in the unit for it to work. The Mio C220 has the maps on the SD Card, and it seems that not everyone knows to put the SD card in the unit before firing it up. No SD card means no working GPS.
Mio Says:
1. Before you power on your C220, insert the SD Card firmly into the slot on the right side of the device
2. Once the SD card has been inserted into the device, power on your C220 by pressing and holding the power button for 10 seconds.
For More information check out the Mio GPS Page on the SD Card for Mio C220
