i already replaced the motherboard, in the process my daughter pulled the end off the power button cord that plugs into the motherboard and i was trying to find a replacement cord that goes from the power button to the motherboard.

I'm not sure if you have a Microcenter or Frys located close by to you but that is where I would recommend going to find that plug. You'll basically need to splice and crimp in a new head/plug. Or you if you have a donor case some where, try to cut that plug off (with a bit of wire along with it) and splice that in using both ends of the wires. Not sure if that'll work or not but that's what I would do. Short of buying a whole new case OR getting a new power switch (not sure if they sell them like that).

ib_ba_87,

Since your using P4M800PRO-M478, I recommend you to read the manual to refer about the pinouts for all the connectors for your motherboard.

Just in case you don't have the manual, here the link for you to download.

Don't forget to rate my solution, thanks!!

Switching ddr to ddr2 memory

re-examine the memory chips.... sometimes swapping slots (still ddr2 slots) will fix the issue. the other possibility might be that you have to set them up in the bios ... if you happen to have the manual for that board.... make sure there isn't supposed to be a jumper on the motherboard that needs to be changed as well.... some ideas to try... in the mean time i'll go look and see if i can find the manual myself and perhaps i'll have found it.

Power supply burn

If the supply was the previous problem, the motherboard may be destroyed as well. Try it with just the motherboard, PC speaker, processor/cooler and power supply. If there are beeps, then the motherboard is ok and it may be the memory.

P4M800PRO-M478 doesn't function

I had told you I changed one Fet that positively had burned. I placed a IRFZ48N, a more powerfull transistor, unecessary of couse but the only I had in my old things. But the board doesn't function and so I searched for more damages and yesterday I found two resistances of 0 ohms opened. I changed its by a jumper and power on the MB. Today it is running with a Pentium 4 2Ghz, the OS Windows XP SP2.
