Sound but no picture

Try replacing the bulb, checking the power supply for a short circuit and examining the motherboard for burn marks or other signs that the screen's gone bad. Worst-case scenario, a new 32" TV costs a lot less than it did a few years ago, and Newegg.com often has good sales.

TV was fine then suddenly no picture, still have sound but no picture.

if is a lcd tv the issue could be the inverter board or one of the lcd bulbs has stop or vcc which is 24 to 30volts that goes to the inverter is not found if its there check the fuse on the inverter if its a plasma the y-sustain board may be out there is a chip called the pmc (power modulator chip ) if is shorted the first sign would be a blown chip on the vcc side 180volt if thats the case the board is shorted needs to be replaced

The power will not turn on and the power LED is flashing red.

PT-50LD54 is an LCD rear projection TV with a consumable bulb that wears out normally after 2-5 years of use.

Most likely you need a bulb. That is first step in any troubleshooting for that tv. Check out Panasonic Gallery to identify lamp and replacement bulb.

Changing bulb involves removing the lamp assembly and replacing the bulb in the lamp assembly. Like doing a puzzle. Requires philips screwdriver, pliers and patience. Don't have jam on your fingers when you do it.

Bulb keeps going on and off . does that mean the bulb is going bad

Hi,
If TV shuts off and turns On itself again then yes, bulb in TV is weak and need to be replaced.
Please buy Sony oirignal bulb/ lamp for your TV safety.
Lamp/ bulb replacement procedure would be written in user manual.
Thanks.

Grey cloud

This sounds like a diffuser problem. Basically the LCD Panel is defective.

32" LCD TV use about 8 horizontally mounted flourescent bulbs. They use a plastic material that diffuses (spreads) the light from each bulb evenly on the screen. If this Diffusion Material becomes wrinkled it will leave a grey cloudy look on the screen.

It is possible that the LCD Panel Glass is defective buy honestly I would guess the diffuser.

This isn't cheaply repairable and it is better to replace the TV unless you are experinced with Electronics repair. There may be a possibility to pull this material out and replace it with something readily available from Home Depot but I have not tried this before. It is possible to pull this from another LCD TV.

some electronic parts dealers are now selling this part. the actual size of the tv is important to have the real size you need. But the real original part maybe only the manufacture can sell it to you

SCREEN SUDDENLY WENT DIM

One of 2 things happened....
1) You Blew the Power Inverter... The Power inverter is a thin rectangular circuit board that plugs into the display panel cable and also powers the LCD Bulb.. If This Part Fails - You Lose Light to the Display even though the display will still be on and viewable against a bright light....

2) The LCD Bulb is Faulty... When the LCD Bulb Fails it will typically give pre-warning signs- though not always.... It will give signs like the whole screen has a light orange or pinkish tone to it, but eventually it will blow and no light at all to the Display Panel....

Both Of These Are Repairable....

The Power Inverter Can Be Purchased Off of Ebay, For Around $15 to $30

The LCD Bulb Itself is also Replaceable.. Though It is a Job Only to Be Performed By An Experienced Laptop Tech... Bulbs as well can be bought off of ebay for a few bucks..
