Question about Dell 962 Photo All-In-One InkJet Printer

Open Question

This All-in-one can not support by D-Link DPR-1260 Print Server?

I use D-Link DPR-1260 Print Server, but on the server window shows this device but says scaner not detected. Is because D-Link not support Dell printer or anything can be set up? Please help. Thanks

This print server has 4 USB ports. I have connected another all-in-one printer HP PSC 2110 to it, the print server detected it and scanner founction works great. The reason to add Dell All-in-one 962 is because it has ADF so I can scan multi pages easier. I just want to know is because D-Link not support Dell's printer or there is other way to config this. Thanks.

I have just set Dell 962 to share and update D-Link's firmware and still the same. Attached photo shows port 2 no scanner detected but port 1 ok.

Did you run the wizard from the D-link's setup page?

The manual is on this page.

When you use a printer server with a multifunction unit, the scanner will not be available. Most if not all printer manufacturers do not support their printers in this configuration.

SOURCE: very strange problem with Dell 5100cn

Hi Dejoda89,

Unfortunately, the problem is not with the printer, but rather the computer that you are trying to access it with.

It could be a corrupt Print Driver, corrupt registry file, your firewall, or even the security settings on the print server.

The network card of the printer doesnt care where the source of the request is coming from. If you can address the printer via tcp/ip, then the port is active and working.

Check with the system administrator of the print server to see if they can help resolve the issue.

SOURCE: Dell 1600n printer driver for Windows 2003 Server

I had a similar problem deploying these printers, however i found using the XP drivers in 2003 does work fine. Not sure why dell doesnt have an installer for this printer in 2003 server, but here you go.

ftp://ftp.us.dell.com/printer/R165289.EXE

extract that file, note its destination directory. do not attempt to run the setup.exe, it will fail saying your operating system is not supported.

instead navigate to (if you didnt change the path) C:DelldriversR165289p0nPrinterPCLWINXP

this folder contains the driver you need to install manually.

one stange thing about these lexmark based network printers is the need to select 'local printer' during install, uncheck automatically search for my device, and then create a new TCP/IP port. Use the IP address provided by the network configuration print out you can access on the front panel of the printer. now just make sure to select 'lexmark network card' as the type of network interface. it should now ask you for your printer type, click have disk, and point to the driver folder mentioned earlier.

hope this helps. thanks alot dell.

SOURCE: Is there a print server that supports a dell 946

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833156036&cm_re=print_server-_-33-156-036-_-Product
Most print servers support all printer with that being said I would go with a linksys or trendnet. Trendnet most likely way cheaper as you can see its a wireless print server for under 70$. Hope this helps good luck to you.

Can not install

Chapter 3 - Configuration
This section will show you how to configure your new D-Link wireless print server using the web-based configuration
utility.
Web-based Configuration Utility
The IP address of your print server will be automatically assigned by your router.
To access the print server’s web-based configuration interface:
Windows® XP users:
Double-click on the My Network Places icon on your desktop. Your print server will be displayed as “DPR-1260:
dlinkps-xxxxxx” (where xxxxxx is the last 6 characters of your print server’s MAC address). If you do not see the print
server or have UPnP enabled, please refer to page 13.
Windows® 2000 users:
You will need to write down the MAC address located on the bottom of the print server (E.G. 00-54-23-45-f5-b6). Open
a web browser and enter the following:
http://dlinkps-XXXXXX
XXXXXX = the last six characters of your MAC address.
Note: Some printer software features may not work
while connected to the print server such as ink level display.

This will prove the print server is working. If you can not access the web interface then it may not be getting an address from the router

DPR-1260 with Epson CX6600 & Dymo Duo

The DPR-1260 is pretty easy to configure and works well with my HP Laser 1012, HP Photosmart 8250, and HP OfficeJet 5610. The Operating System on the computer is what matters... as long as it's running Windows XP, Vista, or a server edition like Win2003, you should be fine. I can't speak to the Mac environment, as I don't have any experience there. As for the Dymo Duo, I can't tell you how well it'll work in this environment, but based on my experience with it and many other print servers that I've tried, I can't think of a better configuration to try. Personally, I would recommend the DPR-1260 to anyone... just make sure you follow the installation instructions in the users manual carefully, and you can't go wrong. I love mine, hopefully you'll enjoy yours as well.
