Question about McCulloch 16 In 4.5 Hp Electric Chainsaw With Carrying Case MCC4516FK
Chainsaw won't shut off with ignition ground switch when hot. Have to choke it to stop it. What's with this dieseling? Thanks.
Hot carbon deposits in the head and spark plug are usual dieseling culprits. If this saw has a long history with heavy oil/gas ratio, it will probably build these deposits. Pull the spark plug, and check for proper color which should be light to darker tan. Is the plug the proper one for this engine? Also, you should check the high-speed setting on the carburetor--(engine warm). High speed unloaded--should 4-stroke and with light-load (cutting wood) smooth out and fire evenly. Too-lean (CW) gives high revs and lots of heat. Hope that helps.
