Log on password problems

I bought a few computers cheap and I only stated them up enough to see if they worked. When I got home I found out that I could not log on because I didn't have user name or password. I was told to take out the bios battery adn then put it back in. bad advice it went to a black and white screen, only asking for the password. after a few feable attempts at guessing what it might be, it won't let me type anything in the space for the password instead it says you've had 3 attempts Noww you must power down! Hehe like its about to explode. How do I boot this thing--It's XP pro

Once we removed the bios battery and put it back in it went to a black and white screen like a dos prompt --but the only thing you can punch in, is the pass ---Password ___________ after a few tries at different words it says "You have had 3 tries now power down!" Now when I restart it goes to the same prompt but now it won't let me type anything like the keyboard is dead, Except when I try to type it immediately says you have had 4 tries now power down. Never makes it to windows xp log in window since I removed and replaced the bios battery I would appreciate any help you can give me

Do you need a password at the beginning of the boot, before windows is loaded, or do you need the password at the windows xp login?

I just copy and paste from the web then:'

There are 2 ways you can reset your bios.

1. On the motherboard there is a small watch battery. Remove this battery along with the power cable from the power supply. Hold down the power button to fully discharge the system. Wait 2-3 minutes then reinstall the battery and plug in your system. Your reset is now complete

2. Some motherboards have a 3 pin jumper by the battery. Lets say that the jumper is on pins 2 and 3. Remove the jumper while the machine is OFF and place onto pins 1 and 2. Power on your machine for a minute. (Note: Your system will not POST). Shutdown your machine and put the jumper back to pins 2 and 3. Your reset is now complete

This is a great troubleshooting step for those of you having POST issues or no POSTing at all. Like other troubleshooting steps, this will not always work but usually will depending on the problem.

I have filled in the form as in email and password and it will not accept them. what shall I do?

You have not identified the website to which you are attempting to submit a form. However, the problem is universal enough a few tips may help. Let's go through a check list:

1) Did you register at the website? Some websites require you register and submit an address and set up a password before just entering such.
2) Did the website send you a confirmation email that you were registered?
3) Did the confirmation email require you to click upon a link?
4) When you set up the password, did the site confirm your choice of a password?
5) Passwords are case sensitive. Did you enter the password using capital and lower case letters in the right spots?
6) Have you used the same email address that you set up the registration account with?
7) Sometimes there is a delay between initial registration and acceptance of a password. Usually, this is announced somewhere in the FAQS page if it is a factor.
8) Did you click some "remember my password" feature? If you entered the wrong password, it is automatically entering the wrong password again. You have to erase the password field and enter the correct password and hit enter. Sometimes that can get very confusing, if that is the problem, update your password at the first opportunity.
9) You might contact their "customer support" and see if they can be of help. You might try that before attempting to re-register.
10) Sometimes, you get caught in a software loop. For instance, I attempted to "file by mail" my federal taxes and e-file my state tax forms on a website. In spite of the site clearly stating I could efile, it never offered a "submit" button once I filled out the tax document. No, not even from a Tools or sidebar menu. But I did manage to print out both Federal and State tax forms filled out. Not even the software support agent could bypass the problem and efile the state taxes. So, you may have to just mail whatever the form is.
11) Sometimes some other program or activity by yourself jams a website (maybe a javascript problem). If you can save your form, shut down, reboot the computer. Go to the website. Try logging in with email and password, try submitting the form again.

IF you are saying that you have the desktop and the laptop set to share, make sure that you have the same home group name in both and check that password too

I think you have to make a windows password reset disk with third part utility. Burn a boot CD with the program, and insert it into the problem computer and your password will be reset to “Blank”, without losing any data and you needn't reinstall windows OS. You can download it from http://www.windowsloginrecovery.com

I lost my password to log on my computer how do i get around that to reset it and i do not have the disk to restore the computer

With varying levels of difficulty, you may be able to use a free password recovery utility. A few are listed here:

Can't log in without administrator password

When it is starting up windows go into setup. A computer always has some kind of override. You can hack computers with this so use it wisely. Go through each of those tabs on the top until you see accounts in them. You should be able to override the old password with a new one.

somewhere the permissions for the login are not set correctly. If you have a windows disk back up the user settings remove the user and after the restart add the user again and that should do the trick

We have two problems, one is to unlock the internet on our psp because we forgot the password. and two how to hook the psp to the tv?

I had the same question earlier today and looked around for it.

  1. You can't just "unlock the internet". You have to log on to your computer and reset the wireless router - creating a new password.
  2. Try looking at this: http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&q=PSP+to+TV&cid=17573760748013250800#ps-sellers. Most are relatively cheap - all are new unless otherwise stated.
Hope this helps,

I just bought a acer home set up, a few days ago. I gave it a neme, a user name, but NO! password. Now its asking me for a password , that I have no idea of. It gives me an option of a password disk,...

I bet there's a default password, perhaps set at the factory by Acer or the seller (see your invoice), or to the username. It should be noted that your OS is asking you for a password, making it kind of an OS or maker-specific issue, not so general.

I'm not sure any modern OS lets you create a null or weak password either. Make a nice secure one once you log in. Your fingers can remember most of WEINTZL20451719querzintinocrantz for you after the first 2 times.
