Question about Samsung SC-D382 Mini DV Camcorder
When mini DV tape is inserted, thin plastic cover is pressed, closes as it should, then entire tape holder (metal box + thin plastic cover), should retract into camera.
Tape box / mechanism refuses to retract into camera.
Instead, it makes whirring noise (not clashing or chrunching), fails to retract into camera body, then thin pastic cover pops open, exposing tape.
Of course, outer ''clamshell'' door, which makes up whole lower right side of camera, remains open, too.
I'm afraid to try to forcefully push tape 'box' back in, as sticker warns: ''Do not push in the compartment''

SOURCE: Tape Won't Load
something is blocking the mechanism and not letting it load or the mode switch is bad and the mechanism dosent know where it is. These camcorders are common for this type of problem and these days Im sorry to say that most places charge an arm and a leg just to look at them. good Luck

sir if your camcorder is new then it has a warranty. we should send it first for their service because they have a spare parts for replacement and info. if your going to fix it by yourself then the warranty of that will be void. by the way the place for the service center for camcorder samsung in the philippines is in makati i think. i got a problem with my samsung just like your model and they told me that it is located at makati. hope that helps!

SOURCE: I have a Samsung SD263.
There is a fault in the loading mechanism that has resulted in the mechanism being out of alignment or failed.
If you hear any motor noise as you switch on the camcorder then the problem is related to failure of link of the loading mechanism , can be a gear , belt or pulley that has slipped off.
However if you do not hear any noise then the possibility of failure of the motor drive, driver circuit- loading IC- or the motor. Now this needs a technical check of the voltages to the circuit to confirm and you must be versed with basic electronics and some mechanical skills, so as to remove carefully the panel , boards and check the mechanism.
In fact it is no as easy as mentioned above but the work needs good attention and skill to infer.
