Try re-installing the printer driver(s) first. If no luck, then un-install the printer completely, reinstall and try again. You may also have an issue with an incompatible driver with Office 2007. After reinstalling the drivers, try to print a test page and see what happens.

Try to do a print preview from excel.
What you see is what you should get since word is working properly.

If the print preview is leaving stuff out, you need to modify the page layout in page setup

Can't address envelopes using Microsoft Word 2007 & Windows 7

Excellent question. Wish I had the answer. I have the same problem with the MFC-7440N. I hook up my old HL 1240 and it prints them fine, so I now use two printers - one for envelopes and one for normal printing. I contacted Brothers and was told that it was not the printer, but the Application. If so, then why does my old Brothers printer work? They do not have the answer.

That just means that you have no default printer selected. In Vista, click the start orb and type 'printers'; click Printers when it shows up in the search results. Find your printer, right click it and say set as default. Then try printing again.

OCR problems for Brother MFC-8660DN with Vista 64bit

You are correct in that paperport 9 will not work on Vista and paperport 11 is the alternative. I called about a similar model and the guy at Brother told me that paperport 11 is included on an updated cd from brothermall.com for some models. It was only about $3 so you might want to check for your model. Hope this helps.

gibberish printing is normally a sign of outdated print drivers. Try going to HP's support site and download the latest PCL driver.

Printing problem for Brother MFC-8440

I dont believe this to be a printer hardware issue since you said it prints excel documents fine. If it were hardware related, it would genarally do the same thing to anything that is printed. I would advise you to download the latest and greatest driver for your printer.(make sure to download the correct one that jives with your operating system) I found this mirror site for your needed download if you need it... 2nd first:
Yes. You should print a alignment test print and follow the instruction which is given on the test print.

I dont understand the first complain:
Do you miss several first squares or do you miss just one?
The latter one is no prob. You can ignore that. The first one (several 1. squares missing) is a serious prob: This indicates that a whole channel is defective!
Did you do a cleaning procedure and check the squares afterwards? If not do so. If you still miss the several 1. squares the ph needs relacement.
