do you have 2 harddrives? or did you partion off 1 drive with dynamic discs? because you can 2 seperate harddrives( if formatted with dynamic disc) and mount a volume in the other so the 2 act like 1 BIG harddrive but it needs to boot not from the volume but from the primary

Sometimes those kind of problems are related to usb devices (any kind of usb devices, even printers) try to disconnect any usb and test it.
If not try running the chkdsk command, you will need to boot using a windows installation cd and select repair instead of install after booting from cd.

HOW CAN I FIX MY COMPUTER? ITS READING UNMOUNTABLE BOOT VOLUME?

You need your Windows XP cd for this fix.

Boot from the Windows XP CD and at the first prompt, press "r" for repair. Press 1 when asked to choose windows installation and then enter the admnistrator password. If you don;t have one, just press "enter" and it should show you "c:\windows>"

At this prompt, type the following

chkdsk /r

THis should take quite sometime but will fix the problem at the end. when you get the c:\windows prompt again, type the word "exit" and your system will reboot and load windows XP normally
