Question about 2wire 2700HG-B Router (2700HGB)

Slow speeds compared to speedtouch 330 usb modem

I recently bought a 2wire 2700HG-B from Digidave. My internet connections speeds have gone down from around 1200kbps (with speedtouch 330 usb modem) to 300kbps with 2wire modem. Could someone advise the problem. I've tried configuring the 2wire to the required settings ( MTU VCI) but these don't seem to help.

How do you connect to the 2wire 2700HG? Wireless or ethernet? In any case I suggest to access the mdc (management and diagnostic console) of your 2wire and check the DSL Diagnostics under the Troubleshooting Category. Check the attenuation rate of your 2wire there so you can see if external problems are affecting the 2wire. The 2wire is also a modem\router and eventough it rarely affects the speed of your connection, the 2wire Firewall might also affect the speed of your cx. Another thing to check are the electrical interference on your 2wire. EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference) do affect the 2wire router greatly. I mean it LITERALLY. A great Interference can cut your signal strength from full bars to 1 bar even tough your just 10 feet away from the router. You can also check the Broadband Status on the Network at a Glance Page to check if the speed are jumping in and out. And also try to contact your Internet Service Provider or the 2wire direct technical support (1-877-3478680) for further assistance. God Bless!

Log on to the routers interface and look for MTU size. Once you get there, reduce it to 1492. This will help.
