Question about Belkin (F5D8231-4) Wireless Router (F5D82314)
Seems to be a problem to all my belkins, but this particular Belkin f5d8231 seems to only work when it is getting internet through another router that has internet. When I plkug the Belkin directly to the modem, it doesn't work at all. I got it down to the Belkin only works when it is connected to another router with an internet already working, but it cannot work when it is plugged alone to the modem. Why is that? and how come my D-Link wireless router works fine when it is plugged in directly to the modem?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I have the same problem on my fd57633au the problem only appears when i use torrents.. i believe the modem cannot handle too many open connections (tho i am still unsure) currently testing now limiting outgoing connections and it appears to be working fine (i can normally get the moment to halt within 5mins)

alright figured out a way to speed up the connections
under firewall - Disable it. Must be slowing down everything. Just make sure you have at least windows firewall (XP) or something else as you are directly connected to the internet now.
Let me know if this helps anyone.

Are you sure your modem is giving a WAN IP from your ISP? Try power-cycling your modem with your router unplugged then bring up your router next, if you havent tried that already... After that try connecting your modem directly to a PC and set your NIC card to DHCP and see if you get an IP address thats routable to the internet (i.e not a private IP)

you have to unplug your cable modem before you connect the router. after you have connected the router you plug the power back on the cable modem then the router and you should be able to browse the net
