Question about Epson Stylus CX5400 All-In-One InkJet Printer
When you switch it on, does the scanner try to move? If it does but cannot, is there a locking mechanism that you have forgotten to unlock? If not, in most cases the head is stuck. You can try to dismantle it and move the head by hand to half way down the track. Then reassemble and see how it behaves. If it then returns home and stick in the same place, there may be a problem with the track. Use some PTFE lube to (very sparingly) to grease the track. If it still sticks then there is another physical problem which may mean the scanner unit needs replacing. you can get a service manual to help you dismantle it from http://www.TheServiceManualShop.com
