Unfortunately windows 7 was not designed to consider external floppy drivers, it was developed to handle the more current items that people use. Unless the disk manager can be modified to work with the new window system you may need to use a flash drive to solve the problem.

Did not receive any instructions with the floppy USB external

I would expect that you simply plug the usb cable flat end into the usb port of your computer after Windows has been booted in.

The floppy drive should self install if you are having a current windows xp on your pc. You will see A: drive when you click on My Computer.

Hope this helps. Please rate the solution.

I am now unable to access a floppy disk that I had been able to access for years. I now get an error message that tells me the disk has no ID address mark. How do I fix this?

Try changing the stting switch on the disk. I think it is for formatting or something like that. Try moving it to the opposite direction and then put it in your computer again ;) Good Luck

Where is the insert for the floppy disc

The floppy disk may or may not be installed in section 5. They started eliminating floppy drives some years ago, when USB flash started to become popular.

FlexBay drive panel
Can contain an optional floppy drive or optional Media Card Reader. For information on using the Media Card Reader, see Using a Media Card Reader (Optional).

If your question was more basic than this, and you have a floppy drive, then you just insert the floppy into the slot. It doesn't open. Look for the arrow on the floppy disk, if it doesn't go in one way, turn it over.

Need to install sata driver on hp dc7100 windows xp sp3

Drive a:\ refers to a floppy drive, if you have not got a floppy drive in the laptop then i suggest that you borrow or purchase a USB one, they are not expensive !!!
When you have got a USB floppy drive all you have to do is format a floppy disk in the FAT file system and copy the drivers to the floppy disk.
Plug the floppy disk in the machine that you want to install XP on, start the install as you normally would and look at the bottom of the screen for where it says "press F6 to install third party drivers" and hit F6 as soon as you see that prompt, let it get to the stage where it displays your drive and it should pick up the SATA drive you have in the machine and install windows.
Post back if you need any more help or advice.

Good luck.

I formated my work station ibm now i try to install os xp but it required adaptec aic 7901 ultra 320 sci drive now what i have to do

On another PC go to the adaptec web site and find the drivers to match your operating system and hardware. When you boot from cd there is an option when the OS install first starts that says something like Press F6 to install additional drivers. (I'm working from memory here but you will know it when you see it) I did this recently for SATA drivers but the procedure is the same. The problem is that the drivers need to be on a floppy disk and I could find no way around this. My machine did not have a floppy disk. So I went digging in the old dead junk machines lying around my office until I found one. I copied the drivers to the floppy using another old still working machine then temporarily attached my new found floppy drive to the machine I was tyring to rebuild. I didn't bolt it in. It was just sitting there temporarly. Once the drivers are in you won't need the floppy again. Make sure the floppy drive is recognised in the bios before you boot from cd. Hope this hepls and let us know how you go :)

Start up error message issue: floppy disk fail

if im correct, you havent installed a floppy drive yet...
while the comp is booting press esc (on some comps its F10 it should say on the screen) and access the boot there there is a list of boot items...they always list floppy drive as the first boot drive in case you need to recover your comp...remove floppy drive from your boot list making sure that your hardrive (C) is first drive to boot.
After you get your comp set up, you may want to change that sequence in case you ever have problems with your HDD
