Is an HP 4550 USB cable available?

I just upgraded my church's computer...Surprise there are only USB connections on the new computer. I have searched in vain for mc25 to USB. Suggestions? I just spent 2 hours with Tigerdirect.com only to be told they don't make one.

Go to www.sewelldirect.com and order the SW-7383 USB to Centronics kit. I have a hp4550 and had the same issue. The problem was actually solved by the good people at the Printer Works in Hayward, CA. 800-225-6116. Price was $23.95 plus shipping.

What should be done to upgrade to windows 7 HP P2050 Series j510a

Are you using a new computer or doing an OS upgrade?

For a new computer, before you connect the printer's USB cable to the computer, download the full software package from HP's site: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=4027469& . Select whether you have the 32-bit or 64-bit OS and click Next. Expand the section marked Driver and select the full software package. After downloading, install the software. You will need to accept the UAC warning.

When prompted to do so, connect the USB cable. If you do not install the HP software first, you will get a Windows generic driver that will let you print but not enable the other features of the all-in-one. The HP basic driver will work but won't let you launch a scan from the all-in-one.

If you are upgrading your OS, then it depends on the type of upgrade. From Vista to Win7, with matching versions (both 64-bit Home or both 32-bit Business/Pro), just make sure to install any updates. If you are doing a different upgrade, disconnect the USB cable and treat it as a new computer.

I hope this helps.

I need to connect my HP 4450 printer to a usb port on my computer. The parallel port on the printer is c-size

you'll definitely need to use an adapter/cable to convert/connect USB to parallel or vice-versa. You can do a quick search on the internet or even check with your computer /printer store/dealer for it.

Can't re-load hp photosmart 7150 on windows xp. Gets to the point where the installshield should come up, lingers awhile, and then says check printer power and usb connection. The computer has already...

1.It could be the USB cable. Try a new cable.
2. Could be USB port, use another if available
3. You should be able to install the software without the printer connected.
4. Uninstall all hp printer software, and restart computer.
5. Delete any instances of the printer from the printer/fax located in control panel

HP 4550 will not print graphics

This printer will work with Vista. I use the driver that Vista provides with the standard HP internal network card and it works fine. Try putting your network card back in and undoing the USB adapter changes. Then just go in and add it back with the "Add Printer" wizard.

My compliments on the 4550, though. It's a great printer. A bit slow compared to what's out there new, but a workhorse that will last nearly forever.

How to attach outdated hardware cable to computer w/usb ports?

Hi!

I'm not really sure what you're asking. If your problem is that your scanner has an "outdated" connector and you want to try to connect it to your PC via USB ports, the only sensible answer, given the prices of scanners, is to buy a new scanner. Your old scanner, if it is not USB, is probably a SCSI connector device. Do a Google search exactly like this "USB to SCSI adapter cable" and you'll see a lot of results. Cables generally seem to range from $20 to $100. Even if you get the scanner connected, there is a very high probability that there will not be any drivers available that will work with the new computer and cable. All-in-all, a new scanner, even a cheap one, is the way to go IMO, and will give you better scans to boot.

Good luck and please let me know if this helps!

I have just purchased a Deskjet D1560 ptinter,I am a bit of a novice and have an old computer it is a Windows 98 can I use this printer on this computer and also what kind of USB cable do I need?

Drivers for Win '98 may not be available for this printer. Checked HP's website online manual. Nothing is said about support for Win '98. Options- upgrade your computer to Win XP (you might need some hardware upgrades, RAM, Hard disk etc.). Purchase a new or newer computer. There is the possibility you might be able to use drivers for an older HP Deskjet, such as the DJ694 or DJ8xx series. Drivers are downloadable from HP's website.

USB cable: First, do you have USB connections on your machine? If you don't know what they look like, look online, or a computer store salesperson could show you. It is possible your Win '98 machine doesn't have them-
