Chipped Cedar Deck

Is it a possibility to use outdoor wood filler to fix a chipped cedar deck, and then seal it to form a long-lasting bond?

It's possible. You might have to stain it to match the color, and as for the bond strength, it will depend on how clean your joint is to begin with, and how well that particular filler holds up under the environmental changes decks are subject to. The problem is that the wood expands and contracts with changes in humidity, and the more durable fillers tend not to. So while the filler is impervious to water, the joint could fail. It depends to some extent on what you mean by chips. A dent or hole-like patch that's completely surrounded will hold better in general than an exposed edge, and long grain better than end grain. And keep the size of the patches to a minimum. But it's worth a try, I say. The alternative is to use a waterproof glue and make patch pieces of cedar to glue in. You can sometimes shave the chip flat with a sharp chisel to make a good glue joint for the patch.
In either case, try to blow it out with compressed air or at least vacuum before bonding, and let it cure completely before staining or sealing. Make a test area on a piece of scrap to help get your color match right.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.

It is very possible,

However, it is important to fill the whole hole with the filler and be careful not to leave air pockets and to fully add a little more seal over the cracked spot of your deck. This way, it wil prevent any moisture from entering the deck. Also, make sure you use only one ype of deck sealer at one time, or this ma not match the color of your deck.

Yes, you may use outdoor wood filler for this. I oncehad a chip in my deck and i just hired someone to use wood sealer on my deck. It works, and you can barely notice that you used wood filler, especially if it is a small chip or crack.

hard wood products would be best
as hard woods have different characteristics it would be best to talk with a timber merchant
what ever you decide the protection for the wood will come from quality wood treatments so discuss that as well with the merchants

Wooden dog houses are most likely to be made out of cedar wood. Cedar is very durable and maintenance-free. Compared to other types of wood (like pine), cedar is much more resistance to decay.

Is it ok to use cedar wood chips as a substrate for my thick-toed gecko?

Although wood-based substrates are good for arborial reptiles, I do not recommend the use of wood substrates. They lack in absorbency and odor control. They have also been said to hurt the feet of reptiles/cause splinters.

I want to get a wooden outdoor bench, but what about weather damages overtime?

If you prefer wood, then you should definitely go for the long lasting woods like Eucalyptus, cedar and teak. If you like metal benches, make sure they are painted in water resistant color and that they are also rust resistant.
