Printer Drivers causing conflict

I recently installed a Lexmark x7675 printer and now there seems to be some kind of conflict with the drivers. Windows starts up normally, but I'm unable to open up any programs except for Outlook. Everything else gets stuck - in Task Manager, I can see them start to load, i.e. Firefox, but nothing will fully open. It's only after I close the printer spooler that the system "releases" and allows other programs to start. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Lexmark drivers several times, but it's to no avail. Anyone seen this problem before?

Oh, and I'm running Windows XP.

Hmm, the actual driver file won't come up, just "Lexmark 7600 Driver" but yes, I tried the ones from their site, from the CD, everything. I suspect it's got something to do with either AVG or Itunes. It works fine right after I install it, it's only when I restart my computer that it has trouble.

Actually, the Windows print spooler folder is already empty.

Also found the driver - lxdwdr.dll

i tried that too. I removed everything having to do with the printer, drivers, files, even registry entries, then re-installed. problem still happens. What i've been doing is once i start up, i end the print spooler in task manager, then everything releases and starts up. then somehow, the print spooler just restarts itself a few moments later.

what files are in the Windows print spooler folder?

to find out, open Windows Explorer and enter this in the address line:
    %windir%\system32\spool\PRINTERS

Any files in this folder will be processed when the print spooler is active. If they are not being processed properly, you will need to do the following:

Stop the Windows Print Spooler Service

Open a Command Prompt and type
    net stop spoolsv

Delete the files in the Windows print spooler folder

Start the Windows Print Spooler Service
    In the Command Prompt type
    net start spoolsv

    Restart your computer

Have you put in your printer model number at http://downloads.lexmark.com/perl/downlo... and tried their latest drivers?

Can you give me the driver version you're using, found by right-clicking on your printer icon (Start-->Printers & Faxes-->right-click icon while printer is running) and then going to the driver tab.

I had this problem after installing the X7675 and then removing the X7675 startup programs. (I dont use the printer very often so I did not want the processes running until I needed them.) Problem is the Lexmark install maded the Services process dependent on the Spooler. After the change the Spooler was not starting. The Services the waited about 15 minutes before starting.
This link explains how to edit the registry to eliminate the dependency.
It fixed my problem immediately.

My computer just wont seem to recognize my lexmark x7675 all in one printer. when i plug it in is seems to think its a mass storage devic. And it wont print i am running windows vista

Microsoft is trying to utilize it's plug and play ability. What you need to do for a printer is install the software that came with it. There should be a CD that came with it. If not, then go to this website and install the driver software. http://support.lexmark.com/index?segment=SUPPORT&userlocale=EN_US&locale=en&productCode=LEXMARK_X7675&page=product&frompage=null#1

Just copy and paste that into your browser and download the driver files. This should fix your problem.

I cannot seam to download the drivers for my Lexmark X3650 printer, I am using Windows 7. Thanks, Jim

Incompatible types and version of printer drivers when installed in Windows 7 can cause issues which might hinder the installation process thereby causing the installed drivers to become corrupt. The users of Windows 7 are therefore advised to verify the version and type of printer drivers before the installation and install only those drivers that are fully compatible with the Windows OS on the system to avoid these kinds of issues.

Where can i download ocr so my x7675 will scan?

The Lexmark OCR scan software can only be installed using the installation cd that came with the Lexmark X7675 printer. It's not available for download. If you don't have the installation cd or you lost it, I advise you to call Lexmark at 1-800-LEXMARK (1-800-539-6275). They can better assist you with that request. Hope this helps. If you need more assistance, place a comment so I can get back to it. Thanks.

I WANT DRIVERS FOR LEXMARK Z100

It would have been better if you posted the exact model number of your printer (e.g. Z2420, Z1300, X7675, etc.) and the operating system of your computer. But here's a link to the Lexmark website where you can download the drivers. Just click on the link: http://bit.ly/aiWCx4 . Type the exact model number (e.g. Lexmark Z2420, Z1300, X7675, etc.) on the bar just below the images of some of Lexmark's printers then hit Select. On the next page, choose the correct driver compatible for your computer's operating system. Download and install the driver. Hope this helps.

Lexmark 4270 disc won't work

Did you both (all users with same issue) competely uninstall the printers before trying to reinstall. Old entries in registry can cause conflicts if you try and reinstall same programs. I use a program called rev unistaller, which lists all programs on pc, even ones you thought were gone!!! IT uninstalls selected ones, then has options to get rid of hidden left over files.
Once no trace remains, try reinstalling your printer with original disc. If you have no disc, try to download the drivers again from lexmark. Email them for assistance if it will not download. Unnacepted disc is either a conflict in OS you now have, or above driver conflict. The disc may also be corrupted or dirty or damaged. Try copying the disc to a blank one and try installing printer off copy, this can get around some errors. Also, try cleaning it first. Good luck
