How To Remove A Virus From Your Computer

Requirements: On an uninfected PC connected to the Internet, download the following programs to a thumbdrive. We will need this to fix the infected computer.
  1. Shut down the computer as soon as you realize there is a problem. Pop-ups, program errors, dll errors, fake Anti-Virus scanners, and similar are signs there is a problem. Shut down the computer normally, or hold the power button in until the computer shuts off.
  2. Power on the computer, and hit F8 before the Windows Startup screen appears. Select Safe Mode.
  3. Login if asked to, if not select Yes to continue.
  4. Click on the Start menu, select Run, type msconfig and press Ok, or type msconfig into the Start menu search box and press Enter.
  5. Under the General tab, select Diagnostic Startup. Press Apply.
  6. Under the Services tab, check the Hide All Microsoft Services box, and uncheck any services you don't recognize in the window.
  7. Under the Startup tab, select Disable All. Press Apply and Ok.
  8. Don't restart the computer yet.
  9. The System Restore Utility backs up selected files automatically to the Restore folder. Quite often are infected files stored there as backup files, and many Virus Scanners are unable to delete these files. If you suspect your computer may be infected, it is recommended that you disable the System Restore Utility to remove the infected files from the Restore folder.Select your OS for directions on how to disable the System Restore Utility - XP, Vista, 7
  10. While in Safe Mode, insert your USB thumbdrive and open it in My Computer.
  11. Open Combofix.exe, select Ok when it asks. Let Combofix scan and remove any infections it finds. It should restart the computer when it is done. When it restarts, boot up into Windows normally.
  12. Login if asked to, open your thumbdrive in My Computer again, and run Combofix.exe once more.
  13. Open up SmitFraudFix.exe from your thumbdrive. Press any key to continue when asked. Type 2, and press enter. When the scan is complete, restart your computer.
  14. If you had a fake Anti-Virus Scanner infection, open up Remove Fake Antivirus.exe from your thumbdrive. Press Start, and press Yes. When the scan and removal is Complete, restart the computer again.
  15. Install Microsoft Security Essentials, or your choice of Anti-Virus Software when the computer returns back to the desktop.
  16. Restart if asked to, and when the computer restarts, run a Full Scan in Microsoft Security Essentials.

My pc infected by virus (registry, trojan, p.let). which i can't ftp, change my ip add, locked some my prog etc. so i want to format my pc and restore it ASAP.

if the virus infected most of your files & programs, and REFORMATTING is the best solution, but you'll lost everything. But if you're going to make a BACK-UP of everything, then virus will have it's back-up copy as well; so if you do have a licensed anti-virus better call the anti virus support number for them to manually removed the virus on your pc.

Hi i use YM When i try to call pc to pc or if sombedy try to call me it crashes. Can you help me please ? Thank you !

Hello motus50,
I see you have a Yahoo Messenger problem. I would recommend you install a virus scanner. I use Malwarebytes (FREE) and Avast Antivirus (FREE) These two programs will find the malware hidden on your computer. Malware can be the cause of your computer crashing. Possible Result of issue: Yahoo Could be running a certain .dll file. That file could be infected. So the virus is just infecting your computer while crashing it. Just download those two programs and scan & remove them.
Try it again. And it should work. If the problem still persists. Try downloading a older version of yahoo messenger.

Kinds of computer virus

from your question, what are the kinds of computer viruses, here is the detailed explanation:

Computermag-glass_10x10.gif viruses are generally defined as a program inputted into a computer that allows replication of the program installed. As it replicates, the program intentionally infects the computer, typically without even the user knowing about the damage being done. A virus, unlike worms or Trojan horses, needs an aid to transfer them to computers. Viruses usually take a large amount of computer memory, resulting into system crashes. Viruses are categorized to several parts based on its features.
Macro Viruses A macro virus, often scripted into common application programs such as Word or Excel, is spread by infecting documents. Macro viruses are known to be platform-independent since the virus itself are written in language of the application and not the messagebox_info.png operating system. When the application is running, this allows the macro virus to spread amongst the operating systemsmag-glass_10x10.gif. There are thousands of macro viruses that exists, and each are considered major threats. Examples of these viruses are: Melissa.A and Bablas. pc.
Network Viruses Network viruses rapidly spreads through a Local Network Area ( messagebox_info.png LAN), and sometimes throughout the internet. Generally, network viruses multiply through shared resources, i.e., shared drives and folders. When the virus infects a computer, it searches through the network to attack its new potential prey. When the virus finishes infecting that computer, it moves on to the next and the cycle repeats itself. The most dangerous network viruses are Nimda and SQLSlammer.
Logic Bombs The messagebox_info.png logic bomb virus is a piece of code that are inputted into a software system. When a certain and specific condition is met, such as clicking on an internet browser or opening a particular file, the logic bomb virus is set off. Many programmers set the malicious virus off during days such as April Fools Day or Friday the 13th. When the virus is activated, then various activities will take place. For example, files are permanently deleted.
Companion Viruses Companion viruses takes advantage of MS- messagebox_info.png DOS. This virus creates a new file with typically the messagebox_info.png .COM extensions, but sometimes the .EXD extension as well. When a user manually types in a program they desire without adding .EXE or any other specific extention, DOS will make the assumption that the user want the file with the extension that comes first in alphabetical order, and thus running the virus. The companion virus is rare among Windows XP computers as this particular operating system does not use the MS-DOS.
Boot Sector Viruses messagebox_info.png Boot sector viruses generally hide in the boot sector, either in the bootable disk or the messagebox_info.png hard drive. Unlike most viruses, this virus does not harm the files in the hard disk, but harm the hard disk itself. Boot sector viruses are uncommon at this day and age because these viruses are spread rapidly by floppy disks and not on CD-ROMs.
Multipartite Viruses Multipartite viruses are spreaded through infected media and usually hides in the memory. Gradually, the virus moves to the boot sector of the hard drive and infects executable files on the hard drive and later across the computer system

Please Read and answer me about UST Funny Scandal?

I've ran across with this virus called UST Funny Scandal. Its actually a worm virus that spreads immediately on all local drives and it originated somewhere in Asia.

When using YM, it actually sends automatically to all your friends this certain virus program via PMs. And the behavior of your messenger suddenly becomes erratic.

NOD32 could actually help but for sometime after removing the pesky "autorun.inf" which is hidden, eventually your drive won't work the same as it was before.

Best solution for this is to download a program called NOOB Killer and run it. After running it restart your computer and you'll be fine.

Also, turn-off your autoplay so whenever you plug a flash drive infected with a virus it won't run automatically.

To turnoff autolplay:

Run the RUN Command and then type gpedit.msc ( .msc stands for Microsoft Console). After running it, click the Administrative Templates and then click the System folder on the right pane look for "Turn Off Autoplay" and double-click it. Click the radio-button "enabled" and from the drop-down list click "all drives" and click apply and ok and close the gpeditor.

Enjoy. =))
