Are you using the built in tuner or a set-top-box? Or watching DVDs when this happens? Are they connected through SCART?
First check the cables which lead the signal -antenna/satellite/cable if they are not broken or with damaged connectors.
Scart cables sometimes tend to have too heavy and stiff leads for the weak SCART plugs. This is NOT an issue with HDMi sVHS or any other.
If it's none of these the problem is probably a power lead of the screen and if you don't feel like opening the back of the box, it would be just fine to take it over to a repair shop or to the centre where you bought it if you still have a warranty.
if not find a Sanyo service near your location(refer to http://sanyo.com/ ) or take it to any home electronics repair shop.

42" Sanyo DP42746 resolution:
I contacted the Arkansas BBB and was offered the parts for free, but I was required to pay for the labor ($200). I rejected the offer and they closed the case.
My suggestion: File a complaint with the BBB and make sure you specify the Sanyo Manufacturing Corporation in Forrest City, AR. I told the "dispute resolution specialist" that I would contact everyone I could that had problems with this TV and ask them to file a complaint. I just want to make sure everyone's voice is heard.
If you want to contact the dispute resolution specialist I spoke with, please email me at phuh_kit@yahoo.com
Thanks, and good luck to everyone.

I have a sanyo flat screen it come ons and shows a picture after about 5 minutes or so the pictures goes black but you still have sound.

Hi:
Have the power supply checked for bad capacitors that are leaky and getting puffy on their tops, also you may have a bad inverter that needs replacing, there are also two capacitors on the inverter as well that does the same thing.

reseat the the LVDS cable inside the set. this is the cable that connects the main board to the panel. if that does not work replace the LVDS cable and the main board.

My 42" hd Sanyo flat

chances are your backlight inverter circuit has failed, repaired one a few months back with the same problem. To verify this, take the tv in a dark room. plug it in and take a bright\ flash light and shine it on the screen. turn the set on, you should see either the screen saver or video from your source. If this is the case, your inverter is at fault. Depending on your model, your backlight inverter is built onto your power supply board so you will have to replace the power supply/inverter board. Not hard to do, you can do it yourself with care.

There is a problem with the board of your television. That problem is in vertical section, theres a leak capacitor at the vertical section of the board. Its better to replace all the leak capacitor to make the picture back to normal appearance. If you can't do the repair or replacement of of capacitor try,Call a repair technician to do the repair or troubleshooting..Thanks..

Picture goes black on bottom half of the screen

You have a bad connection to the panel or bad caps on the boards. Not something for the DIY'er. High voltages in plasma sets.
